I brought our VW in to have a whining noise coming from the rear of the vehicle diagnosed. The technician inspected the vehicle and evidently took it for a short test drive (3 miles indicated from the in/out mileages); the diagnosis was that the tires were worn and causing the noise issue. A few days later I had new tires installed but the noise was still present. Evidently, the cause of the problem was not the tires. I called the service department to bring the vehicle back in and was told the earliest they can get us in is about 2 weeks from now. I originally had to wait 2 weeks for the initial appointment and now that the problem wasn't diagnosed properly, I have to wait another 2 weeks. I would hope that we could get the car in promptly since I do not feel comfortable nor safe driving it with the noise that may escalate into something worse. So, now we are basically unable to drive the car for a month while we wait to have it looked at again. I understand that sometimes it is difficult to correctly diagnose the issue but there was no feedback from the technician other than the one line on the service order stating that it was caused by the low tread on the tires.
