My family of four stayed at the Rio last week, using Hyatt points (although the cash price is very affordable!). We had a renovated room facing west, away from the strip, but the views of the mountains were still beautiful. The service was really prompt and friendly. The room was large and comfortable, even the sofa bed was nice. Plenty of space for us all to move around. I appreciated the useable minifridge, when so many hotels (especially on the strip) just have a minibar. The pool area was a big selling point - we came during a cooler time for April (68* high) but one of the two pools they had open was *very* heated and still comfortable in this weather. I can imagine the large pool area would be amazing in hot weather, with so many options! The food onsite was really convenient. The food at the food court was surprisingly good and not overly expensive (Tender Crush!), although the prices in the gift shop are VERY high. Starbucks onsite was really handy for getting a quick start to the morning. They are still renovating so there was a large portion of the first floor blocked off, and the masquerade side of the hotel feels a bit like a ghost town, but in the meantime it's a great value and still a comfortable stay. If you're willing to stay a little off strip, but still really close, I think it's a great option.

Too much walking service was iffy and dealers and pit boss really rude.
