I am writing to formally respond to an incident that occurred at your establishment, Ace Hardware, located on State Ave in Billings, MT, on February 9th, 2024. On the aforementioned date, I was a patron at your store intending to make a purchase. However, my experience was marred by an unfortunate and highly unprofessional encounter with one of your cashiers. While I was browsing your store, a cashier approached me and abruptly interrogated me, asking what I was doing. This question was unexpected and left me feeling confused and uncomfortable. Before I could even respond to her inquiry, the cashier proceeded to invade my personal space by placing her hands into my coat pockets without my consent. She then accused me of theft, insinuating that I was attempting to steal merchandise from your store. I want to emphasize that at no point did I exhibit any behavior that warranted such an accusation. Furthermore, upon finding nothing incriminating in my pockets and realizing that the items I intended to purchase were in plain view and ready for checkout at her register, the cashier failed to offer any form of apology for her false accusations and inappropriate conduct. This lack of accountability and basic courtesy is deeply concerning and reflects poorly on the professionalism and customer service standards of your establishment.
