St. Luke's Des Peres Hospital: Emergency Room

Came down from SD to Cape Girardeau to watch the Eclipse April 8, and will be leaving without my appendix. I was contemplating which ER to go to, & I did all my research to try and find the best hospital and took a chance on St Lukes, Im so glad I did, the medical staff could not have been more accommodating, the ER wait, well there wasnt one (got right in like they were waiting for me to arrive), and I was blessed with having one of the areas top surgeons operate on me. The staff here are very caring and attentive, I couldnt have asked for a better experience! I highly recommend St Lukes above all others!!!

Extremely rude and unprofessional, definitely treated me different since I am Hispanic and you could clearly see it when they would talk to other patients. The nurse seemed coocoo on something and the lady at the desk never even asked for my insurance. Bad experience

Came in for stitches from a cut. It was fast, clean, kind staff, and professional.

I am a traveling healthcare worker and far from home. I woke up very sick and since my Dr is 9 hours away I decided to be seen here. This was the worst care I have ever received. I was vomiting, had 10/10 abdominal pain. The admitting desk was going to refuse to see me because I forgot my wallet and didnt have my ID on me. The triage nurse yelled at me because I was breathing on her and she "was tired of it," She then yelled at me that the BP machine was broken and asked what I did to it. I asked for a nurse supervisor at that point. I waited 20 mins for a nurse supervisor. She just said "well that can be annoying." I ended up leaving and going to St. Claire's where I was admitted to the hospital for pancreatitis, and was very sick. Having to delay my care because the nurse and sup were rude definitely made my hospital stay worse. The triage nurse was an older lady who could barely walk and I found out that she would have been my nurse if I stayed there. What was she going to do in case of an emergency? Since she had already been rude to me and yelled at me there was no way I was going to let her provide care to me. Highly recommend staying away from this hospital.
