There has been only one working washing machine for months in the laundry building behind my apartment. Multiple buildings share this laundry/utility building. I have complained about it multiple times. I was told HG has to go through a different company that actually owns the laundry machines to get them fixed/replaced. But that doesn't excuse the fact that this has been the situation for the better part of a YEAR. What will happen when the last machine inevitably breaks down? Furthermore, the laundry facility is constantly flooded because the remaining machine floods the area every time it's used and there is no drainage. The wall behind the machines is literally rotting away and I expect it will collapse any day now. My unit is okay, but only because I pay nearly 1k for a 'luxury' unit. There are always bugs in the hallways that will be crawling over your mailed packages, but none in my unit so far. The walls and floors are PAPER thin. You will hear every conversation happening in units you share a wall with, every step they take, and every time they use the bathroom or cook. Maintenance is good with responding to issues in your unit(as far as I've seen), but you're on your own if you want to clean your clothes. Be wary when you tour, they claimed I couldn't see the laundry facility for safety reasons when I asked to see it on my tour.

This place is a joke! My niece has had to deal with MICE and has not even been there for a month. After 3 weeks, she started seeing mice!!!The management is dismissive. My niece didnt sign a lease to have mice as her roommates. In the photo you will see mice dripping on her KITCHEN COUNTER!

I lived in Hampton Gardens for a total of five years- in two different units. Originally, I didn't hate it, because it was CHEAP so I could deal with the imperfections. But as the cost has risen, I felt I wasn't getting what I was paying for. Then, when new management took over, things took a HUGE downhill dive, and over the last year, things have gotten much worse. Firstly, the heat didn't work. It was just "on." So if it was 40 degrees outside, it was 80 in my apartment. Then, when there was a cold snap and sub-zero weather, it was in the 50s! My bedroom registered a temperature in the 40s. When I called management, they sent someone to "clean the vent." That obviously did nothing. They suggested space heaters. The new management company was awful. They bought the place about a year ago, and things started going south. Nobody cleaned the entryway, it was disgusting. They got really lax with the pest control. I started seeing roaches- HUGE roaches in the basement. For the last month, I had MOSQUITOS in my apartment. Gnats. Spiders. Roly Polys. It was impossible to escape bugs. They'd put a little note on the door that said pest control had visited, but I never saw any results from it, so I wonder how truthful those notes were. Then, when I moved out, they had the audacity to charge me cleaning fees for the oven. Spoiler Alert: I NEVER OPENED THE OVEN EVEN ONCE SINCE I MOVED IN. I use a countertop oven, so that fee was bogus. That oven was straight out of 1950, it was disgusting when I moved in, and it's probably been disgusting for 20 years. I bet they charge the next tenant that fee as well. The new management company was always finding excuses to go through the units as well. I had someone entering my unit at least once a month. That's a huge hassle when you have to figure out how to secure your pet every time. Previous management never did this. I don't leave bad reviews for people. Check out my previous reviews- I tend to only leave positive feedback. I've even left positive feedback for an apartment company! But I felt so strongly about this place that I just had to leave the review. Oh, and they had a deal where if tenants left positive feedback on Google, they would enter us into some type of raffle. So be aware that a lot of these positive reviews you see on Google may not be entirely accurate. My recommendation: Since the new management took over, avoid this place. What was once "adequate" is now "rapidly deteriorating." There's plenty of other rental options in the area.
