Michelle Larson is flighty and disorganized. I wasnt notified of her changed location until another client and I walked to the previous location to find it closedso we both werent aware. Michelle ran almost an hour late for our appointment, was disorganized and didnt have a plan for how to file our forms (we almost missed some signatures too!), and she didnt think of deductions for my 1099 job. Im glad I had informed myself otherwise she wouldnt have saved me money on several business expenses. I would definitely not recommend her for self employed workers! Also I submitted my forms to Joni multiple times and she was not detail oriented. She missed my emails and did not read my instructions, wasting my time.

I used Larson Accounting for the first time in 2023 and caught multiple mistakes by their accountant Joni, like counting some of my income twice and not recording all of my charitable deductions. (If I hadn't noticed, I would have owed much more tax than I should have!) When I brought the errors to her attention, Joni told me I was wrong until I insisted that she look again at the data I'd provided. When she said she'd fixed it the first time, she didn't check her work and it was still wrong, and she was rude to me again saying that she had entered the amounts I had provided. However, I had even provided totals for categories in my documents, and she didn't check to make sure her amounts matched mine. This is basic accounting! After the second negative interaction with Joni, I met with the owner Michelle Larson and told her how Joni had acted and the blatant mistakes she'd made, and Michelle confirmed that she'd heard similar complaints from other clients. At the time of writing this review 7 months later, I just learned from another client that Joni is still employed there.

I almost gave them 2 stars because they are pet friendly, but couldn't do it. I should have read these reviews before going there. We normally do our own fairly simple taxes. However my father passed away last year and my mom sold a house last year, and gave her kids the some of the proceeds for the house. This is supposed to be in the form of several gifts tax receipts. We simply wanted this done by a tax professional, but apparently only one person in the office knows how to actually do taxes. Literally stated by the receptionist, "only the really other person that knows anything besides Michelle, works at night." So an office full of people that apparently don't know how to do taxes. What's unfortunate also is that it advertises w/ Dave Ramsey and it's supposed to be a Christian organization. I completed my return w/ them, but my Mom' submitted hers 3 weeks in advance to tax day they had to file extensions for everyone in the office because they couldn't get them done. Anything with any measure of difficulty ( which these gift receipts aren't much ) had to go through Michelle. I hate leaving bad reviews but this warrants it. Not to mention they many times we called to talk to them, they couldn't find our file, didn't know what we were talking about, didn't apply my brothers name to my mom's taxes either.... just so many errors. Which could have resulted in me and my brother owing taxes for gifts that my mom gave us, which we should not owe for, to the tune of $80,000 plus. Grave big errors. By the way this is still not resolved for my mom.

THEY SUBMITTED MY TAX RETURN IN THEIR SYSTEM WITHOUT MY CONSENT, SIGNATURE OR PAYMENT. How you ask? BY CHECKING "THE WRONG SMITH". Michelle literally showed me a screen, full of clients names and social security numbers and showed me how easily they just tagged the wrong Smith. Their mistake had me owing $12k in taxes THAT I DID NOT OWE. In May 2020, they emailed me my return. Immediately, I wrote back with several errors I found. With no response, I called and was able to get an appointment for a month and a half later. That's when Michelle discovered they already submitted my return. This firm is unorganized and difficult in returning communications. Proactive communication is non existent. After spending over 150 hours of my life, I used Turbo Tax to correct my taxes and submit all the necessary paperwork directly to the IRS.  I'd call the IRS each month to check on it. They charged penalties and interest on the money I didn't owe that was piling up. Finally a year later, it's now resolved. And only that fast since I've been all over it and financially minded enough I usually do my own taxes! Michelle committed to paying me back for any fees incurred. She paid me the fees I had incurred at that date and wish I had just asked for the total anticipated fees at that time. I've emailed them 4 times and they no longer respond. So I'm now out over 150 hours of my life and $276 due to her negligence. Needless to say, I would not recommend this firm!!!
