Terrible experience with this institution. Our General Contractor had his construction loan through this bank, and he went insolvent halfway through our new home construction. The GC had already used the majority of the loan, presumably to pay other dept. Eric, the Market President, told us that he would work with us to get our house finished and asked us to get three bids to finish the house, and if the bank had to "take a loss" then so be it. In the end the bank wanted us to pay $200k over the original closing price and told us that they would take the builder they had suggested to us and finish the home to try and recover their money, even though the appraisal of the home and comps in the area are nowhere near that value. We were told many things by Eric along the journey that never materialized and now we feel like the goal of the bank all along was to get as much information about the house from us as possible so they could complete the build with their builder. Even if the house sits empty and they aren't able to gouge someone for an overpriced house that has set uncovered with water in the basement for over a year, it won't make my wife and I feel any better as we are out a very large deposit and have lost our dream home.
