Reminded me of overpriced state fair food. Formerly Culleys, under new management and now listed on Door Dash as Big Mikes BBQ. As an out of towner searching for a bbq joint online, I was surprised that the BBQ wasnt more flavorful. I ordered the brisket nachos(can cheese) and the brisket plate. The brisket didnt taste smoked but more like a precooked entree from the big box store. The same goes for the potato salad and the baked beans. It wasnt bad just not what I had in mind when I spent $12 & $17. The brisket also came with only one slice and dressed on a bun which wouldve been great if I had ordered a brisket poboy. I was not incentivized at all to return. Thankfully the owner and staff was pleasant, the bathroom and restaurant itself was spotless. The restaurant needs a real grill master on deck to make this place a winner because its in such a great location.

As we got out of the car in this strip mall restaurant, the first thing I said was I dont smell any hickory or pecan wood smoke. Well, that mustve been the case because both my brisket and chicken lacked any smoke or bbq flavor at all. It seemed both items had been merely baked in an oven. The potato salad was of the mustard variety, which I prefer with bbq, but it lacked any discernible mustard flavor at all. It was very bland and all I could really taste was onion. The beans ? They were on par with the chicken as they had no meat in them at all. Not even a trace. They were poured straight out of a can and heated up on a stove. Had to be. When Im thinking smoked or bbq chicken, Im thinking of that dark brown skin on the outside and pink, smoky chicken inside. Im telling you that chicken was baked. Or at least cooked in an electric smoker with little to no wood chips. Not only that, it had to be the smallest leg quarter to ever come off the farm. The leg was hardly bigger than my thumb. The wife had loaded tater tots that were topped with brisket, bbq sauce and I guess cheese. Most have been some sort of white cheese. Anyway, when she was done picking all the fat out of her plate, she had very little brisket left at all. Instead of Texas toast, you get a thin slice of barely toasted dry white great value Walmart bread with your meal. I know for a fact that Mississippi knows good bbq. There are some people in Mississippi that take bbq to the level of being a science. This just wasnt the case at Culleys when I visited. Maybe it was the cooks on duty that day, I dont know. All I know is that we didnt have a five star experience at all like most people are claiming here. Bland food. Sticky and broken tables and seats and oh yeah, they had no ribs. Imagine , no ribs at a bbq restaurant.

BEWARE! The positive reviews MUST BE from the business itself. Because! This is the WORST food on the planet! Horrible tasteless food! My ribs were old, dry and jerky two hours after opening. My chicken was extremely dry, burnt, bland and tasteless with feathers still on. My fries were oil logged and dirty looking. My salad was wet and not fresh. My toast was dry and hard. Eat here at your own risk. I just fed mine to the outside stray cats and they sniffed it and walked away from it. Something is wrong with the cook and the food.

The girls are so nice & ready to answer any questions you have. They even gave me some good suggestions on what to try my first time there. The ribs are FALL OFF THE BONE & JUICY ! The pulled pork is NOT dry. The BBQ sauce is perfect. ALL the sides are delicious. Oh & you MUST try the salads; they are LOADED! Only thing I would say is the BBQ plate(s) portions are small for the prices & they are expensive however I dont mind paying for it.
