Hyatt Place Columbus

Booked a room for the weekend for my son. Wanted him to scout the location for me, prior to booking a weekend event for 100 people. So glad I investigated. Upon arriving for check-in, the front desk staff said that because he lived within 50 miles, he was required to pay a $250 deposit in CASH, in addition to the already fully paid reservation. When I got on the phone, they said they would make an exception to their "policy" and accept a credit card. They said the card normally needs to be physically present, but I insisted that if I could pay for the room remotely with a card, then I should be able to do the same with this deposit. After scouring their website, I found that the only policy listed had to do with pets, not locals. When I stopped by the hotel the following week and asked to see any written evidence on paper or the website of this "policy," they had nothing. The manager on duty got extremely agitated and rude and said they could charge anyone anything they wanted and could even refuse service. I explained I was simply trying to get confirmation that the "policy" that was communicated was real, to ensure that someone wasn't trying to rip me off. These guys seem to be making up policies on the fly. I suspect that if you give them cash, the money gets "lost." I've seen other complaints from guests trying for weeks to get answers about random fees they were charged and being completely ignored. Do not trust this staff. This place is super sketchy.

Hey this review is very partial you can say that it's a good thing or a bad thing but I've been an employee of this Hyatt for over a year now the improvements I've seen have been way greater than the things I've seen that need to be done and I'm not trying to Hype up my job but as a member of the maintenance team we have been working hard with management and upper management all together to make our hotel a more pleasurable place to stay
