They barely feed you anything at all. This facility is run more like a department of corrections jail or prison. The staff are constantly yelling like boot camp from prison. This facility is not up to mandatory health codes. Showers and toilets barely work at all. When staff got issues brought to attention only select staff will do anything about it. Some of the staff play favorites with the clients. I was lied to at admission about details of the program. I would only recommend this place to people who want to escape warrants and incarceration. If you want real recover stay far away from here.

Good learning experience, along with change for sobriety. Great people all around that do care for your success and is focused on the African American community. I was the youngest when I went and everyone taught me something valuable, and the importance of living your best life the right way, the sober way. You just have to want it, like anything else.

I really liked the program, but I joined after about a year of sobriety and I felt like there was a lot of conceptual points in the groups that didnt really relate to me. I ended up leaving, but Im still grateful for the experience. The staff were extremely nice to me, laid back but took their job seriously as well. Its a general chow hall type scenario, but you can be expected to take care of chores around the living area so I suppose it provides a bit of discipline. I left to go to a program more focused on my mental health problems and so I have more time learning to transition into society. This is a highly cultural specific program, but even if youre not African American you will fit in and be accepted as long as you are respectful and participate a little. If I felt like I needed substance abuse treatment again, I would come to Turning Point
