We rented from them for years without issue. We bought a house when our 3rd child was born. Rents are very reasonable and only increased once in our seven year stay. We have referred friends to their properties, many of them have stayed for several years.

WARNING: Do Not Rent at BARBARY KNOLL APARTMENTS or buildings run by BRENTWOOD MANAGEMENT, INC.
As a starting point, BARBARY KNOLL renewed my lease for the 7th year and then two months later terminated it without any explanation. Now they are deliberately preventing me from finding a new place to live by refusing to respond to rental history inquiries by new prospective landlords.
I have been living in the Barbary Knolls complex, managed by Brentwood Management Inc, for 7 years. On April 1st 2015 they renewed my month to month lease. On May 28th 2015 they terminated my lease and gave me a move out date WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION. I inquired by phone to my local manager as well as corporate on numerous occasions as to the reasons for the termination... they have refused to respond in any manner.
After finding a new apartment and placing a deposit on it, a background check was done and I was accepted "tenitivly" by new management pending the outcome. The background check, along with all other requirements for me to be accepted as a new tenant passed EXCEPT THE RENTAL HISTORY check which could not be verified due to my current landlords refusal to return the calls and faxes that were being issued by the prospected new landlord. My application was DENIED and now I am having an impossible time trying to find a new home and am facing homelessness unless I can find a new place who is willing to accept my application.
I again tried to contact upper management and physically went the the corporate office--WHICH WAS AN APARTMENT COMPLEX-- but nobody was in the office nor did they answer the phone or return my phone calls. For seven years I have dealt with the manager of my building named Jill. I have never had any issues with her personally and she has never stated any issues about me She is now completely ignoring me,interfering with my ability to find a new residence, and needlessly costing me money by having to pay application rental fees.
As of today, 8-21-2015, they have not returned my $650.00 security deposit and have billed me for an additional $1,010.00 for cleaning charges and damages, ALL OF WHICH ARE BLATANT LIES.
