I have always been a member of this credit union (30+ years), and I have never had problems with any of their locations. My experience with other credit unions when I relocated for work reinforced my opinion that this place is the best. I frequently use the Troy office, and they have always been helpful and informative. I know that my parents would also give them 5 stars. Plus, my brother loves them so much he still depends on this bank while he has been working and living in Europe for six years.

Dont ever apply any loan with Lindsey Cowell.

My experience with the underwriters was quite disappointing. They denied a loan application solely based on the fact that the vehicle in question had been sold through an insurance auction and they presumed it had a salvage title when it did not. The CARFAX showed no prior accidents and they did not provide me with the opportunity to present evidence that the vehicle's title was in fact clean. The vehicle was a 1-owner car with its original clean title when initially bought new. The branch service specialist Angelo also failed to communicate this with the dealership but rather instantly shut down the deal.

This is not reflected on this branch, but on the service I continually receive through chat. They are typically never helpful and do nothing to go above and beyond for their members. The service I receive through chat is making me want to close my account of 20+ years, move my loan and credit card to another institution. They are never willing to work with you or even take into consideration the long standing relationship you have had with them. They just throw their "policies" at you and say there's nothing they can do, when I know for a fact they can because I have worked there, know people who work there and they have done it before. So if you value good online service I highly recommend another credit union. I have an account at another, but use this as my primary. I will be switching that up as the other credit union provides great online service and is ALWAYS willing to work with me on things.

I am using Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union for a business line of credit. It has taken over 7 months and cost over $7,000 in closing fees. Communication was extremely poor from the beginning - during the entire duration not a single request for a call was answered and all requests for a call back went unanswered from Ellie. Instead she would email but often not answer my questions. It was requested of me to contact the title company as they were incapable of making that happen. I was told it was under "final review" multiple times only to have more information requested of me. The last 3 months was simply waiting for them to work with the title company. I tried using the chat feature to receive the phone number of a supervisor and the chat representative refused to give me a number (24 minutes wasted). When I finally found John McCurdy and left him a voicemail (twice), he didn't call back either. As it stands I have questions about the settlement statement and neither Ellie or John have called back despite multiple requests. I expected better communication and less fees from a credit union.
