Staybridge Suites Grand Rapids SW - Grandville, an IHG Hotel

Room was good size, but the toilet, shower and kitchen sink were all clogged. Toilet wouldn't flush.

Booked here for the hot tub but it's terrible, barely works and was just more frustrating than relaxing. The ac/heater in the first room they put me in made a clicking noise which made it hard to sleep. General manager is rude and argumentative. I was forced to cut my reservation short even though I was still working in the area, had to return just to pick up an amazon package that was already on the way, but the manager was just that bad. I feel bad for his employees who have to put up with him. The rest of the people at the front desk were nice, but the GM ruined my entire stay. It was my first day off work so I was trying to relax in the hot tub and I was the only one in there so I tried turning off the bright florescent lights on the hot tub side since there was plenty of daylight coming through the windows anyways. I left the lights on the pool side and was planning on turning the ones above the hot tub back on when I was done in a few minutes. They were bothering my eyes, and it was hard enough to relax when the jets wont even stay on in the hot tub. The manager came in, turned the lights back on and started hassling me, questioning which room I was in saying everyone was to check out at 11 even though I was supposed to stay at the hotel for 2 more days. I told him which room I'm in, and I'm not due to check out that day. He was pressuring me not to be in the hot tub anymore just so they could clean the pool area. I could tell the staff didn't want me entering in the first place but I should be allowed to relax in the hot tub on my day off work. I asked him if he's trying to get a bad review or what the problem is, he started yelling at me and told me I needed to leave the property for "threatening" him with a bad review. Huge overreaction when all I was trying to do was get him to leave me alone. I don't usually leave bad reviews and probably wouldn't have anyway until he decided to escalate the situation. I'm now blacklisted from the hotel, which is fine because I wouldn't be comfortable staying there ever again. I stay in hotels 200+ nights a year for my job and I've never experienced anything like this. I'll try to stick to Marriott and Hilton from now on...

Rooms: Rooms nice, spacious Noteworthy details: Didn't like the fact that there was only 1 baggage cart for the whole location, which was VERY inconvenient, irritating & frustrating having to lug bags from 3rd floor to main floor w 3 kids
