    Do NOT trust their competency for processing insurance. When my PCP referred me to Spectrum's Balance Center, I contacted them prior to my appointment because I had previous balance testing at Mary Free Bed. Unfortunately, the clinician (Michael Hojnack) at Spectrum/Corewell's Balance Center did some testing that was rejected by BCBS. I contacted Mr. Hojnacki through My Chart and he assured me they would resubmit the claim by recoding the procedure. Didn't happen. I eventually contacted their supervisor, Carynn Alvarez, who assured me she would work with their senior biller so that a claim would be resubmitted to Blue Cross. I started getting notices from Spectrum billing indicating they would send me to collections. I called Ms. Alvarez several times and left voicemail messages trying to resolve the situation. There were no new EOBs processed by insurance. Never even got the courtesy of a return phone call. I tried reaching out to Mr. Hojnacki, but MyChart says the message thread was too old to follow up. I called the number on the bill and was put on hold forever and the call was disconnected. Very peculiar. Their failure to follow up is disappointing. I manage my own clinical practice and am familiar with the process and procedures in submitting claims to insurance companies. In this regard, Spectrum/Corewell failed. I just received the collections notice.
