Years ago, when we were in the market for a new home, a friend recommended this place based on their experience. They had been guided by someone knowledgeable who helped them navigate the steps needed to qualify. Given that our credit profiles were almost identical to our friend's, we hoped to receive similar guidance. However, the person who assisted us simply checked our credit, we asked a few questions about qualifying and what to work on to improve our potential loan and he essentially bid us farewell, stating in short, "We are not a credit-building company." Surprised and disappointed, I mentioned our friend's name and how they had received assistance in addressing negative factors in their credit history to improve their chances of qualifying for a better mortgage. This was met with a brief, awkward silence before I politely ended the interaction. Sharing today just in case someone had or has a similar experience. I got in touch with my current lender and with LMCU who gave me the home loan applicant experience I was looking for. Both LMCU and my final lender just gave the general stuff we had to do (tips for improving your credit score, reducing debt-to-income ratio, saving for a larger down payment, or addressing any negative factors in your financial history) 2-4 months later we were making offers. The staff at Treadstone at the time obviously did not want our business.
