Lafayette Towers

Cars constantly get stolen and vandalized in the parking lot. The security guards and staff are rude to guests and residents. Summers are brutal, the apartments get really hot and keeping my apartment just barely comfortable costs me hundreds of dollars a month for my electric bill. Theres lots of crazy rules. For instance, one time I got fined for bringing a chair into the elevator without an appointment. Apparently, you have to make an appointment to bring stuff into the elevator. I was excited about a really cool chair I found at the thrift store, and my excitement was ruined when I was fined for bringing it into the elevator. The neighbors can be loud. Theres lots of college students here, and they like to blast music and party when some of us are trying to sleep.

The apartment is nice however, the security is mean to guests and even myself. I recently was locked out of my apartment and called the security to let me in, he told me you have to pay $80 and cash before I can let you in. Told him you can get my ID until I pay it as it is cold and snowing and my car key is inside the apartment as well! He told me that those are the rules and I cannot help you. I had to walk in the cold weather and snow to get cash. The security made it worse as I am walking back to the complex to add more insult to the injury, I was asked where are you going and had to verify my identity. I am regretting my decision to choose this complex and I would not recommend it to any friend.

First of all, I just HAVE to say that LT is a VERY well ran building. I am sooooo glad that I didn't allow the reviews to deter my decision to live here. Not only is this place situated in a very PRIME LOCATION where one can walk the cut, walk to the local mart, grab some hot food, walk to Greektown within 10 mins... but also, the management is VERY responsive! I have NEVER had to wait an uncomfortable amount of time to have my minor issues handled. KIM, one of the office managers, in particular is INCREDIBLY tactful, efficient, polite, poised, and overall makes me feel like I have someone to depend on when it comes to management. Her ability to deal with such high volumes of people with varying situations and STILL be able to make renters feel appreciated and respected speaks volumes. If you're thinking about moving to a place that includes some utilities, offers a nice pool in summer, a small workout room, and allows you to live your best life with jaw dropping views why not make it here?.. Where else can you wake up to the sunrise end with a sunset... talk to the moon and stars, enjoy the storm and snowfall from up high for the reasonable price??? Come on and do yourself a favor, sign the lease and get to enjoying Detroit!!! Thank you Kim, Ms. Johnson, Yvonne and Mike for all that you do! I have lived here for 8 months and have NEVER had to wait long for an elevato, not once. Anything negative to say is so small... not worth mentioning... I would like an updated unit but my needs are met.....
