I purchased an auto insurance from Mapfre insurance through their agent Andrea Cormier from HUB international New England, LLC on 8/27/2018. At the time of purchase, she gave me a quote of $1923 a year, and she told me if we submit our driving record the price will go down a $300 to $1623. We compared several insurance companies and found the quote was reasonable if it was $1623. Plus I bought my home insurance through Andrea. So we signed with Andrea in her office. Later on, when I logged in to my mapfre account, the amount due each month was definitely much higher than the quote. They raised up the quote to $2300+ a year. So I asked Andrea about this, and she said the quote was based on I got my drivers license on 2010 instead of 2013, but I never told her that I got my license on 2010. However, I went back to the quote she gave me, the years of licensed was 5 in the quote, and it should be 8 if she entered the year 2010. I tried to contact her about this issue and never got any answer after this.
So I ended up switching to another state where my husband is and got a new quote from our original insurance company. I cancelled the Mapfre insurance on 10/13/2018. Mapfre charged me more than $300 for about 6 weeks of insurance, and plus the deposit of $200, that’s over $500 for 6 weeks of insurance.
I guess the problem was that the agent entered wrong information or the system of Mapfre insurance has some technical problems. They continued changing my quote slightly after I cancelled my policy so I guess their computer system just really sucks. I tried to contact the Mapfre, and they said they would not return the deposit. But from my side, I feel I was cheated by the agent and the company, because the quote I got was so much lower and that was why I signed the contract with them. I would never chosen Mapfre if I knew the quote was over $2300 for one single car (with two drivers that never got involved in any accident). And due to their agent’s mistake in work, or their mistakes in the system, I had to pay the penalty of $200 deposit, which is very unfair.
I will NEVER recommend any friend to Mapfre insurance and I highly warn the people who are considering. The quote from Mapfre just doesn’t count, and it might end up being much higher!
