While the tenant was a reliable occupant for two years, their unexpected delay beyond the agreed-upon move-out date on August 31, 2022 was unfortunately beyond our control. We actively communicated with both parties throughout the process and explored all options to expedite the transition, including offering to pay for your hotel stay.Regarding the missing built-in shelf, we acknowledge your frustration and apologize for any confusion caused by the invoice. Our policy strictly adheres to Massachusetts law, which requires landlords to provide clear and documented evidence before withholding any portion of the security deposit. Unfortunately, in this instance, the lack of documented pre-existing condition reports prevented us from holding the tenant accountable for the missing shelf. It is important to acknowledge that our property manager was unexpectedly called away to care for a critically ill family member during this critical period. We deeply regret any lapse in communication or follow-up that may have contributed to your experience.We understand this was an inconvenience, and we reviewed the situation to identify potential improvements in our internal procedures to ensure clearer communication and documentation moving forward. We have since set up complete Standard Operating Procedures to ensure seamless coverage and communication in future similar situations.
