I want to preface this review by saying that I understand that Dr. Kovacs has been helpful to some women, especially those who have worked with her during their pregnancy; however, my experience was different. I visited Dr. Kovacs this past September with symptoms that were quickly increasing over a year and a half. I had unexplained weight gain, bloating, pain in my breast, and very painful/irregular periods. From the minute Dr. Kovacs met me, she immediately commented on my weight and BMI (which has been proven to not be an effective measure of a person's health). I tried to explain to her that I am very active - run 5.5 miles a day, five days a week and eat healthy due to having Type 1 Diabetes, yet she insisted that once I lose weight, I will feel better. We basically went back-and-forth for ten minutes on this issue because she wouldn't listen to any other symptoms I was having, and was waiting for me to agree with her. It wasn't until she did an exam and I was in a lot of pain that she decided to order an ultrasound. The ultrasound came back "inconclusive". In addition, I have never had sex due to abuse that I experienced throughout my life. It is something that I am healing through, but also very difficult. I explained this to Dr. Kovacs when the subject of sex came up, and she told me that I was too old to not have had sex yet (I am 27), and that I needed to have sex with anyone. She told me to go on a dating app and find someone to have sex with. Now, I am sex positive, it's not an issue about thinking sex is bad, I never felt safe with a person - that is my situation. I found it very inappropriate to shame me into having sex when I am not ready. This conversation about my weight was challenging for me because I have a history of an eating disorder, and in the moment, I didn't think of mentioning that. But her comments were very impacting to my mental health for a couple months after that. I found myself sinking back into that anxiety of being "fat" and not doing enough for myself to be "healthy" - even though I already was. Recently, on the recommendation of a friend who was experiencing similar symptoms to myself, I visited a homeopathic doctor who specializes in women's health. Within five minutes of our conversation, she identified that I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and guided me to the appropriate tests to confirm - she was right. We have been making lifestyle changes to help with the PCOS, even though it isn't fully treatable. I think about how sooner I could have been feeling better and taking care of my healing through PCOS if Dr. Kovacs would have just listened to my symptoms and put in more effort to helping me identify why I was having all of these issues. Plus, I had to pay $50 for our visit and another few hundred for the ultrasound. The only reason I am giving this review one star is for the incredible Practice Manager who helped me find a different doctor to meet with after the ultrasound. I called the practice to change the doctor because I was having a lot of anxiety about seeing Dr. Kovacs again. This Practice Manager was incredibly kind and compassionate, and she explained to me my rights as a patient. I don't plan to go back to this practice based on my experience; however, I really do appreciate how this Practice Manager helped me. Basically, if you are experiencing any issues with your reproductive health, do not visit Dr. Kovacs. It seems that she is better with patients who are pregnant and on their journey to delivery; however, she does not seem to be very well-versed in other women's health issues and/or just really doesn't care. Never let a doctor make you feel that YOU are the cause of your symptoms, our symptoms are our body's way of communicating a deeper issue. If you don't feel comfortable with a doctor or their advice, seek other care. You deserve to be listened to and to receive the best guidance that you can.

Does not respect patient autonomy. For those who don't know, here's a definition: The right of patients to make decisions about their medical care without their health care provider trying to influence the decision. Patient autonomy does allow for health care providers to educate the patient but does not allow the health care provider to make the decision for the patient. Go somewhere else.

Honestly the best OBGYN I have been to, and I have switched doctors multiple times. She is very thorough and explains everything that she is going to do and how everything works. A lot of other doctors just come in to do their job which is great but she goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable! Her personality is another plus, she is a very sweet woman!
