When checking in the person at the desk tried to charge me for a room that was paid for 6+ weeks in advance. Literally had to find and show multiple receipts proving they received payment. Nearby activities: Lots of shopping and restaurants all around.

If Hotel Cecil had a cousin, I am 99.8% sure it would be Hotel Silver Spring. Let's start with the good points: LOCATION!! For me, it was right where I needed to be, within walking distance of several of my destinations. Valet was amazing. Very professional, helpful, and prompt. Now, let's move on to everything else: There is a huge area of water damage and a gaping hole in the ceiling of the lobby right off of the entrance from the garage....water stains and all. Things happen, so I was able to look past that. The older lady at check-in was quiet unpleasant and very short with us. She also said our room number out loud. Our floor smelled stale and musty. The decor was reminiscent of the Golden Girls set. The room was dark, smelled of mildew and the carpet was filthy. The beds were coming apart at the bottom and there were no bed-skirts on the beds. The towels were dirty. There was hair in the tub. Water stains on the ceiling. No heat the first night and the person at the front desk said there would be a charge to switch rooms. We were happy to leave and will not book another stay.

The hotel seems to be in need of lots of desperate repairs and upgrades. The rooms are subpar, and there are lots of water leaks everywhere within the building. The appearance from outside you expect a really nice place, the lobby is generally nice but don't look up to the left of the front desk.. if you do, you will see large size holes in the ceiling, which is pretty much throughout the floors above with garbage cans collecting water. Rooms are outdated and out of shape, in desperate need of a complete remodel. I hope there are nicer hotels than this in the area. Good thing I'm not here very long. Photos included of the refrigerator on the floor next to the bed and what appears to be burn marks on the carpet next to it. The large windows are so dirty you can hardly see through the glass, outdated curtains that seem to be falling apart. The wallpaper is peeling off the walls, and they're just dirty and gross. The bed frame is exposed through a torn skirt and just doesn't make me wanna sleep in it.
