Do NOT stay in the city view rooms!! They are NOTHING like the rooms they picture on the website!! We booked one of these rooms not realizing wed be staying in a nasty motel. Apparently, QI turned the Econolodge just behind the beachfront building into city view rooms. Upon arrival, we realized what these rooms were but figured since it was newly acquired by QI, theyd have made them up to Choice Hotel standard and would be clean and fresh. Boy were we wrong! Within minutes of walking into our room, we saw bed bugs crawling on the white bedding. I ran right down to the office and demanded another room. The werent the least bit concerned, never apologized, just gave me keys to a new room in the same building. Within an hour, they had given the bed bug room to some other unsuspecting family. The cleaning staff never even went in!! The new room they gave us was bug free but just as tiny and disgusting! It smelled like dirty bong water, the bathroom was moldy and gross, the TV was plugged into a weird yellow extension cord, and the AC unit ran non-stop but couldnt cool the room well. I cant speak on the oceanfront rooms but, based off the lack of cleanliness or concern for the city view rooms, I wouldnt chance staying there again.

Once again Econo Lodge was an excellent place to stay. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff is always so friendly. Had a great time at both pools after long days on the beach. Mostly, my kids enjoy the cute fish pond. They take pictures in front every year! Best hotel in OC.

Good location, clean and nice indoor and outdoor pool. I arrived early and was able to check in and I liked that they had guest discounts for the amusement park across the street. The bed was soft and overall the room was clean. But, carpet in oceanfront rooms are terrible and they had carpet on the balcony also. The room didn't smell but there was extra moisture in the room in general. The title over the shower had had extreme water damage and looked like it would fall at any time. I didn't request a new room because it was a stop over stay, just 1 night, but would suggest fully inspecting the room at check in. I wouldn't stay again.
