Holiday Inn Express & Suites Columbia East - Elkridge, an IHG Hotel

Gym was missing 15lbs and (1) 50lb. No bench and definitely tinier than other holiday inn express hotels. Connected right next to the pool which made the gym humid. Pool was having maintenance and could not swim while staying. Rooms and bathroom were nice and comfortable. Breakfast was great! Seating area was comfortable. Hotel is located behind a gas station and strip mall that you must drive through before arriving. Overall happy with my stay

No body wash, they give us one bar of soap for three people, we asked for an additional towel the lady (night shift) at the front desk said they don't have more towels, the room wasn't super clean, she wasn't very friendly. And on top of that today, a week later we still waiting for them to refund the deposit, when we tried to called them, they put us on hold and no body back to us. Very poor customer service.

We stayed here 3 nights while exploring DC and visiting with nearby family. The pros: Great location and the room were very clean, renovated, comfortable, and quiet (even though our room was facing the highway). And even with the following cons, the low price of the hotel ($113.00 per night plus tax) is a huge problem and that means we might actually return, but with reset expectations for what this HIE provides. Cons: The breakfast was terrible. The worst we have ever had at any hotel. The juice machine was out all 3 days and there was zero water. I asked the kitchen worker and she said she didnt have any either. She said Id need to go to the front desk. Went to the front desk, told them what was going on, and they said Id have to BUY a bottle of water. WHAT?!?! So unless you drink coffee, youre out of luck to wash down the nasty breakfast. Fellow guests were actually coming down to breakfast with gallons of juice to share with others. Why couldnt hotel management do that? Now onto the food We are gluten-free and vegetarian (but we eat eggs and cheese). We normally have no issues at hotel breakfasts by eating egg & cheese omelettes or a hard-boiled egg, potatoes, and fruit. However, at this hotel, the breakfast was tasteless & slimy scrambled egg whites, turkey sausage, sausage gravy, and biscuits. The egg whites were so unpalatable that I opted for a hard-boiled egg. They were frozen! The only fruit option was apples. So my breakfast was just thatan applewith no drink. Another con: Front desk staff. While they were friendly, they were also incompetent. Every single day, our key cards expired at 12:00pm, which meant we couldnt get into the side door of the hotel (the only parking location) or our actual room. We had to go back downstairs to have them reprogram the keys each day. We ran into someone in the elevator after getting ours reprogrammed and he said hed been having to do the same thing. So if youre staying here multiple days, save yourself the hassle and just have the front desk reprogram the cards when you come in after 12:00pm every day.
