The stars must have been aligned in my favor when I found Dr. Hookman. She is by far the kindest and most patient doctor that I have ever gone to. My path to achieving happiness has been a rough one, yet she was always there giving me hope and for that I am truly grateful!!!

I've worked with one of the psychiatrists that currently practices at WCWCW and I can not describe how wonderful my experience was with her! She was compassionate and a good listener and I wouldn't be where I am today without her support. I'd highly recommend visiting for your psychiatric needs!

Dr. Alam is one of the very few doctors I've seen that have really listened to me and tailored my treatment for me. She took the time to check up on me and really go above and beyond.

If you are seeking proper care and attention in regards to your mental health, DO NOT see this group. As a patient of Dr. Alam, I was withheld treatment for a condition I was diagnosed with 12 years ago and was forced to completely go off my medication due to her "misunderstanding". I have had severe consequences mentally and emotionally because of this. I contacted Dr. Alam a WEEK ago trying to resolve this situation and have NOT heard a single response. A family member that referred me to this group also contacted Dr. Hookman, the founder of WCWCW, and they have yet to receive any response either. They also contacted the office manager for assistance. This group's grossly negligent lack of communication with me, a patient, has been shocking. If you are seeking care for your mental health, you deserve a doctor that is attentive, easy to communicate with and cares about your mental health and well being. It should never be this difficult to ask for and receive help from any physician. This group does not care for their patients, and I personally think it is dangerous to put patients being treated for mental health in any type of situation like this.

About
Washington Center for Women's and Children's Wellness (WCWCW) - Main Office - Bethesda

About WCWCW At WCWCW in Bethesda, Maryland, our team specializes in mood and anxiety disorders and other psychiatric conditions in children, adolescents, and adults.  Our team also focuses on reproductive psychiatry, including infertility, managing mental health medications during pregnancy, postpartum depression, and menopause. WCWCW’s board-certified psychiatrists and psychotherapists provide an exceptional level of care for patients, helping them with healing and personal growth.  WCWCW provides a comprehensive range of psychiatric and psychotherapeutic services. We offer diagnostic evaluations and ongoing treatment, including medication management, to help patients with conditions like OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), panic disorder, dysthymia (long-term depression), hypomania and mania, cyclothymia and bipolar disorder, and psychosis.  Our WCWCW team also has extensive experience working with children and adolescents. We offer a safe, comfortable, and child-friendly environment for young people with problems like depression and anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), eating disorders, and mood dysregulation (disruptive mood dysregulation disorder or DMDD).  We take a holistic and collaborative approach to provide people with the specialized care and services they need to build a happier and healthier life. We’ve made every effort to ensure that our office is comfortable and relaxing so patients feel at home. Our office is a safe and quiet space that includes a private waiting room, a playroom for children, a calming meditation area, and refreshments.  WCWCW has been providing exceptional psychiatric care to people in the Greater Washington DC area for more than 20 years. To benefit from the same outstanding results, call the WCWCW office today and inquire about the services available or book an appointment online.  We are now offering telemedicine in Michigan and Florida in addition to Maryland, Virginia and DC.  Insurance Like many mental health practices in our area, we are out-of-network and do not participate in any insurance plans. However, many of our patients are able to get some level of reimbursement from their insurance carrier for out-of-network benefits.Although we do not bill insurance carriers directly, we can provide you with the receipts necessary if you choose to submit to your insurance. You may want to contact your insurance company to verify your mental health benefits prior to engaging in treatment.Patients often use their Health Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for mental health not covered by insurance.
