I cannot say enough amazing things about the level of care my mom received through ND. I will recommend them to any family who finds themselves needing hospice care.

I am the husband of a very recently deceased patient of Notre dame hospice. I am sharing my personal experience with this organization as my wifes caregiver. While overall the staff and professional attentiveness that was provided was at the level of good, my personal experience with the nurse and social worker assigned to my wifes case were very robotic. The industry of hospice is one that requires a sympathetic nature and warm bedside manner, in which the two persons Ive mentioned were neither of these. Im of course not certain as too why? But please know that there are always those in job fields which should not be!

The nurse that came out was really awful and rude. Her name is Cynthia. She rolled her eyes and had nothing but attitude because she had to get up and come from Slidell. She had zero bedside manner. This is a time that our family needed compassion and the way she spoke and rolled her eyes was unbelievable. She is in the wrong profession if she treats people like this.

My mom will get a world record for being in hospice for the longest time. I loved the first hospice, Passages, but their in patient respite was horrible. My mom came back from three days hungry, thirsty, and dazed. So I wanted a hospice that was better on the respite end. I signed up with Notre Dame. The in patient respite is better, but not great. They don't have the time to feed or give her liquid either. It does take me 40 minutes to do that. My big gripe is that Notre Dame doesn't do covid vaccines...Passages did. I have to beg for supplies, and the aid comes at different times every visit. 11:00, 1:00, 3:30.... I have no idea when she's coming. Shower waits until she comes, lunch waits until she comes. My mom has had four chest x-rays because they require a TB test before going in. My mom sees no one except me and the nurse and the aids, gets no covid shots, but they are concerned about her spreading TB. Shout out to Diane the nurse....she is lovely.
