image So much for State Farm Select Service...
Ten weeks ago I had my Jeep Patriot towed here after a gnarly break in and attempted theft of my car. In Hendricks defense, it was not an easy project, as my steering column was wrecked, ignition switch fully melted, glass smashed -- the whole gambit. However, for the first five weeks of this process, ANY communication was only ever initiated by me. I was given the impression that backordered parts would reasonably arrive in two weeks, and was never given any form of expectation for how long this might take to repair. I was told I would be emailed at certain points in the process, and was never contacted. The estimator responsible for corresponding was consistently unavailable and didn't return my calls. I was confused, frustrated, and anxious.
The only point I ever exhaled in this process was when I called KC AutoWorx, who has done work on my car and is a trusted local shop. (I'd have taken my car there if insurance didn't require me to choose from a limited selection of repair shops, and if you're reading this review trying to find a place to go, they have the honesty, communication, and quality that Hendrick lacks. Just stop reading here and go to their page.) Their shop owners reassured me that it wasn't uncommon for theft parts to be backordered for multiple weeks. Although, even five weeks in, any time I reached out to Hendrick for an update there was a new discovery of something wrong, another problem, another part to order, another three weeks of winter. I didn't think it would be unreasonable to request their assistance with a rental, but they held no accountability, and had no interest in making this process easier for me in any way.
This process repeated until today, when I finally picked up the car...
You would think that after ten weeks of repair, this would have been a thorough treatment with everything good as new, yeah? Laughable! They sent me off with a one inch gash in my driver's seat, a clearly broken part over my steering wheel, and a scratch on the replaced glass. When I pointed out the cut in my seat, my estimator suggested I show insurance and see if they'll give me money off... right.
All in all, this has been disastrous. Nothing feels more ironic than swiping my card to pay my deductible for work that is worse than my car was prior to the accident. The work is under warranty, but I'll be damned if I ever leave my car at this place again.
