My mother in law has been living at CGP for several years. A year and a half ago she moved to assisted living. We have been so pleased by the staff, the apartments and the rest of the facilities. I really believe that having social activities, nutritious food, friends to share meals with , and having people around to check on you is vitally important to keeping seniors healthy and happy. I moved back to cedar Rapids from California and into Cottage Grove Place 6 years ago so I could be close to my family.
It was a great decision. CPG is the best deal in town, especially with LifeCare--meaning I don't have to leave my friends--just move within the community to a different level of care. And my kids didn't have to take care of me after recent surgery.
The staff here are helpful and caring. I'm very happy to be living at Cottage Grove Place.

My parents were long-time Independent Living residents and when the time came for them to move to Assisted Living the Cottage Grove Place staff was wonderfully flexible and helpful. The transition was made with minimal disruption for my parents and little stress for our family. Our thanks and appreciation!

My husband and I moved to Cottage Grove Place (CGP) six years ago. As we were in our late sixties at the time, our childrens first reaction was surprise, commenting that we were too young. But we have always been long-term planners, and we were ready to shed the tasks of maintaining our large home. Moreover, we wanted to mitigate the financial risks of long-term care, and CGP (alone in Cedar Rapids) offers lifecare. After payment of an entrance fee (much of which was deductible as prepaid long term care), we are now assured that any future care we may require (assisted living, skilled nursing, or memory care) will be available to us at just a minimal increase in cost each month right here in a highly-rated Medicare community. With the security that comes with this guarantee, we rest easy about whatever care needs may arise in the future. In the meantime, we are enjoying living independently (free to travel, socialize with friends, volunteer) in a community that offers security, stimulating activities, housekeeping services, meals, etc. There is even transportation at no added cost to church services, doctors and other appointments, entertainment events, etc. For so many people, growing older and aging in place means isolation and increasing loneliness. Here we are part of a supportive, even loving, community. The employees here are friends in so many ways. We know we have freed our children from the burden of caring for us or frantically searching for and settling for whatever care center has space available should the need arise at some future date. My husband and I and our two dogs are truly living a good life here at Cottage Grove Place.

My experience at cottage Grove started out ok than it went deeper down hill. I can't say the same for everyone. Will never refer a friend to work there but family member is a different story some of the aids are very sweet and caring the other half are snooty and snobby
