I was trying to save money on shots. First time being there. I couldnt go back with my dog, didnt like that. It took waaaay longer than it should have, 1-1/2 hours and I was only one there. No chairs to sit on. Liked the followup vet way more than the lady vet. He explained everything in great detail. Probably wont go back.

This Pet Vets is a real problem -- and I learned today from Tractor Supply's own employees that they are hearing feedback themselves to the same effect. To begin with, I checked the website today to see what time this week the clinic would be open (I've seen signs on their door in the past where they seem to change hours daily). The website indicated the clinic would be open Noon - 7 p.m. Wednesday and Friday. I came in with my dog about 1:45 p.m. for annual shots and a nail trim to find a sign on the door explaining the clinic would not be open until 3:15 p.m. that day and would only take clients until 6:30 p.m. I returned at 4:45 p.m. to join a line of about 8 people with their dogs waiting. While we waited, all of the dogs were very good. Mine loved on people who stopped to pet him and was sweet to all the dogs around him. When the Pet Vets employee approached us get checked in, she tried to sell me a package of shots that was far beyond what my dog needed. Last year one of my other dogs had a reaction to a "package" of vaccinations. He was sick for days afterward. Of course, many pet-vaccination clinics don't address issues like that; they refer you to your regular vet. My regular vet advised not to get a "package" of vaccines again, and indicated they are seeing more reports of reactions after these "package" vaccinations. Instead, my vet recommended that we space out multiple vaccinations to avoid a reaction. Today I asked for just rabies and Bordetella, and a nail trim. I also asked for a new prescription for heartworms. My dog had a heartworm test less than a year ago, and in my state dogs can go two years without having a heartworm test to get a prescription. Pet Vets sent an employee out tell me that they would not provide another prescription unless I got a new heartworm test (that would mean two tests in one year). I told the woman to take that off the list, I could get that from my own vet by sharing my dog's records. The employee turned around and walked away, leaving me with the impression she was unhappy with my answer. After waiting almost two hours in line, they finally called my dog's name and I handed him off to the woman who tried to sell me the vaccination package earlier. I sat on a bag of feed just outside the exam room glass door and watched the Pet Vet employees with my dog. They stood around talking while my dog paced back and forth, and then he moved over to the glass door and paced back and forth. Seconds later, the Pet Vets "sales woman" brought my dog back out and claimed that my dog tried to lunge at the vet. I had eyes on my dog the whole time, and I never saw him lunge at any one. But I did see the employees standing around talking, completely ignoring my dog while he paced back and forth. The sales woman said they could not treat him and I would need to take him somewhere else. This was not an issue with my dog. This was an issue of a per-client sales quota that they wanted to meet, and encountering a client who is informed. I know vet appoints are really hard to get right now, and many people are using the word "bilk" when talking about vet costs - but we all deserve better than this Pet Vets location and staff.
