After reading some absolutely terrible reviews of a different post office in a different state that either lost or stole my package, I was reminded that people don't usually write reviews unless its negative.
I am writing a positive review for my local post office in Crown Point near the square. I have lived here about 18 years and all my incoming and outgoing mail has gone through this office. I've also scheduled pick ups several times for things I've sold online and it always goes smoothly. I've never had a bad experience with the staff. In 18 years, I cant think of a notable bad experience. Keep it up.

I have never been to a more pleasant post office in all my life!! This post office should be the example of how all post offices should be runned!! The ladies and gentlemen here are beyond hard working and they all greet you with a smile and sorry for your wait even if you waited just two minutes!! They are so well informed and always want to go the extra mile to help you!! During Christmas time they still hold it together and are just so pleasant!! I have NEVER had one bad experience here. Great job everyone!!!

The workers are nice at Crown Point.
Large flat rate boxes have gone up from around $16-18 in June 2021 to $24.75 in February 2024.
Some negative experiences of the overall postal system:
We mailed our mortgage payment ( we can't do all auto deductions from our checking)
on Jan. 2, 2024. It arrived very late. It took approximately 17 days to post to our bank.
Currently, Feb. 8, 2024, our car payment is also late and missing so far. I mailed it Jan..22rd and it's no where to be found. In both cases, I've had to make phone calls and explain. Luckily, the mortgage late fee was waived.
About 6 years ago, they lost a BICYCLE- a bike in a proper box. Let that sink in. Crown Point says it was at their warehouse in Illinois, they said it was at Crown Point. Again, was lucky the manufacturer of the bike honored my explanation.
I've always loved the mail but this is unfortunately too much.
I have stamps but they're going to last a long, long time since I'm not planning to use this system much in the future.

Having lived in other large metropolitan cities, I feel I can honestly say that this post office is very pleasant. Compared to the status quo of the USPS, this office is centrally located, usually not busy, air conditioned, doesnt smell and has great parking.
All companies, maybe more at the USPS, have a few struggling staff members, its unfortunate that people feel they need to publicly shame them. Lets be a community, build each other up and if youve got a specific gripe, take a comment card. It goes further in the organization without spelling out a persons name. Anyone who feels they must shame others via Google maps is likely using it as a personal platform rather than a review service. Scroll back to the top and read my positives, they far outweigh the negatives.
