UChicago Medicine - River East

My doctor here is very competent. However, the policies and check in staff are extremely off-putting and unwelcoming. On one visit, I was actually early and still had to wait 30 minutes past my appointment. Yet, on another visit, I was running late and let them know. Was told there is a "15 minute policy." Guess it's not reciprocal! Then, when I actually did make it, everyone had to make comments about how I got in under the wire... So, to sum up, I miss two hours of work to get scolded for being late due to traffic. Very unprofessional and uncaring. They don't respect my time or consider what a patient has to go through sometimes to get there.

To the administration of the hospital you are a number and a revenue stream. The doctors are excellent, but you may or may not be treated like a human. I had a procedure scheduled and I received a note in my patient portal/email to show up one hour before it at 6:30am. I was told if I was late, the procedure might be cancelled and rescheduled. The doors to the facility dont open until 7:00, so a patient is supposed to stand outside in the cold for 30 minutes at 6:30AM like a homeless person.

Incredibly unprofessional and poor service from the clinic. My partner arrived 10 minutes after her appointment began due to public transit being late. After waiting in line for 5 minutes, the care coordinator told my partner that her provider could not see her because she "wanted to leave early." This clinic does not have the patients' best interest in mind. We will not be returning.

I visited this location for OBGYN Dr McLaren. This was my first time here and I look forward to returning. I originally booked using ZocDoc. UChicago Medicine reached out to me to verify my insurance. Every person I came in contact here was wonderful. A++ in care and customer service. Information and lab results are easily accessible via MyChart.
