The room was okay but they tried to charge me a $19 fee for drinks when I did not order any drinks. No way.

We have stayed here several times without issue, but during our most recent visit the staff were incredibly rude and unprofessional. Ariyana at the front desk, and Richard, Manager, made both me and my family extremely uncomfortable with how they spoke to us and handled a scary, threatening situation. A safety issue occurred and they refused to assist us (thankfully upper management has taken the issue seriously and has been really responsive via email). Will not be staying here again.

The front desk staff hustled me and bullied me for money at check out. Shady business. I will NEVER stay with a Bonvoy hotel again. I booked through a third party with all costs and fees paid up front. I ordered NO food, had NO drinks, used NO vouchers, and had NO incidentals. Yet at check out, the front desk staff demanded $19 as an undisclosed "say fee" that they said covered the drink vouchers, which were advertised as free. I did not have any drinks or use any vouchers. When I checked in I was not offered drinks or drink vouchers. The sign at the desk says that vouchers can only be used during happy hour, and I arrived at 10 pm and was told that it was too late to order anything. Regardless, staff said that the fee was to cover vouchers even if I did not use them. They claimed that the fee was disclosed in my booking information. Yet I just checked my e-mail receipts, and they say NOTHING about drink vouchers or an additional $19 fee at check out. All of my costs were pre-paid. After a fight, the front desk staff said that she would waive the fee as a one time courtesy, however she would not give me a receipt to confirm. I refuse to have this kind of a conflict at 7 am in the morning, and I will not be harassed and bullied by thugs while trying to relax and take a break by traveling. This hotel should be closed for fraud. This basic dishonesty and disrespect for the customer is killing our country. For capitalism to work, a buyer and seller must both know the price, and the price must be advertised with transparency. For capitalism in the hospitality industry to work, the customer needs to be able to book a room without a knock down fight at check out. You can't raise the price after payment by making up a fee for drinks that were not offered or consumed. You cannot advertise that something is free and then surprise the customer with a charge, especially if the customer did not even consume. Yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck.

I've stayed here twice. I'll start with the positives - its in a handy location if you want a safe location and to be close to the high-end shopping and lakefront. The staff are nice, the rooms clean. However, this hotel is tired. Its shabby. I'm not sure I've ever stayed at a less comfortable hotel. The room furniture is like something you'd pick up off the curb and well past its expiration date. How do you have rooms with no desks? No chairs? It has none of the amenities that even basic hotels offer. They have water and treats for dogs but zero for hotel guests in the lobby. No free coffee, no nothing at all. No extra blankets in the rooms. Its totally bare bones. If you're choosing this place because its lower than some others in the area - there's a reason for that. Rooms: My room had no desk, no chairs. It has a perhaps the most uncomfortable couch I've ever used that is not oriented to anything in the room (such as the TV). If you were traveling on business, you'd literally have no place to set up a laptop and zero space for any papers.
