I was charged $390 for a pretty simple tax preparation (4 small income sources, one pension, and Social Security, plus standard deduction). Last year it was about $250 for the same thing. Ask very detailed questions before you go there. The preparer was a nice man but no one explained what the charges would be and I stupidly assumed I would pay about the same as the year before. $390 is an outrage. Never again for me.

The experience at Jackson Hewitt today was fantastic! Barb and her crew expressed excellent customer service, my taxes were done in less than 10 minutes, and everyone was friendly and professional!
