We actually had a great experience. Initially we were unhappy because the line to pick up the car was quite long, and then when we returned it we refilled it at the station closest to the airport but moments later received a receipt with an expensive fuel charge on it. I called and emailed customer service and received prompt, friendly service from both phone and email reps. I went from being ready to start a fight to feeling completely taken care of. Thanks Payless, your phone and email reps knocked it out of the park for me.

Beware! If you book a car online, make sure you check out the electronic receipt once you receive it to avoid unnecessary insurance products and fees. If you have any question, contact their customer service which was very helpful and solved my issue.

This is the worst rental car experience I've ever had. We have been waiting in line for thirty minutes. There are still eight separate drivers in line before us. Not impressed.

Directions take you to the 4th floor. There is no Payless on the 4th floor. I called Payless, and talked to a corporate person who was unfamiliar with the Honolulu airport. He said they were related to Budget. I went downstairs and got in the Budget line. After several minutes in line, I say the Payless booth. I got out of the Budget line and waited at the Payless line. Nobody waited on me. Finally, I saw a sign there that said use the Budget line. Why do they sell under the Payless name in the first place?
When I got to the counter, I was high pressured to buy insurance. I booked through Expedia and ordered upgraded insurance there. They had no record of that. Payless was trying to rip me off. I am sure the agent gets a commission on insurance upgrades, and he didn't want to let go. I didn't buy it.
How many people buy the upgraded insurance through Expedia and then buy the same product again, under pressure, from Payless? Highly unethical business.
