Rooms: We had a beautiful room with a balcony. We had two fans in rhe room that did a great job keeping us cool. The bathroom and kitchen were huge! The best part was the staff though. I've met such a wonderful group of people who went out of thier way to make us feel like we were at home in Paradise. The daily banana bread was amazing too. Walkability: Quick and essy walk to many restaurants and shops!

Within walking distance to downtown. The room was spacious and had a kitchen, which was convenient. The surroundings were quiet and the accommodation could be described as cozy. This is an inn where you can feel the thoughtfulness of the owner. In the morning, coffee, banana bread, and papaya (whole!) are served, all of which are Hanamaru! There was also a kitchen, so I procured ingredients from KTA supermarket and made some food. The people at the front desk are also hospitable and kind. There was no elevator, so she helped me take my luggage up to my room on the second floor. There is also ample parking space. The garden is well maintained and is perfect for a short break. I would like to stay here again when I go to Hilo

I love this hotel. Its so old style and we loved it. Its close to the town and far enough to feel quiet and calm. The room is very spacious and parking is free and easy. They share fresh papayas and coffee, banana bread in the morning. All the staffs were so sweet and wonderful. I wish I could live here highly recommend to anyone.

Wonderful little hotel! If you're looking for an all-inclusive resort to sit at a pool all day, look somewhere else. But if you're looking for a quiet, clean, comfortable, and affordable place to stay while you adventure around the Big Island (less than an hour from Volcano National Park and Mauna Kea), you've come to the right place. We stayed in the two bedroom apartment unit. The accommodations were very well kept and comfortable. I will admit that I did not realize at the time of booking that there was no air conditioning (apparently on their website but I missed it) and was initially a bit concerned about that since I tend to sleep warm, but with the windows open letting in the cool Hawaiian breeze and the box fans in the room, I slept great. The parking is slightly tight, but we had no problem finding a spot (just beware if you are driving/renting a large SUV). The coffee, banana bread, and fresh papayas in the office in the morning were a nice touch as well. The hotel cat was also a sweetheart. If I visit Hilo again in the future, I would absolutely stay here again.
