I've been practicing Shinkendo under Sensei Smith for ove 3 years, and I can't say enough good things about this dojo. It's rare to find an environment where you are both really challenged but met with patience, and you will definitely find that here - along with a lot of hard work, both mental and physical. Sensei Smith is committed to teaching effective and high quality swordsmanship while respecting the safety of each practioner from expert to beginner. There is a healthy culture of respect for one another, we all work together well; it's a great dojo for anyone of any skill level who is willing to put in the work.

I started shinkendo after Japan festival 2017. I had budo (martial art) experience in Japan and I always wanted start budo again. Sensei Nayef guides students to be the best version of ourselves and give us positive energy. Since I started, I grow personally and professionally. Also I became mentally and physically strong. Highly recommend!

The study of Shinkendo, Toyama Ryu, Aikibujutsu, and Bojutsu has had a major positive impact to many aspects of my life. This is a serious study school with an adaptive program that enables everyone to enjoy rigorous training regardless of age or physical condition. My dojo mates at Japanese Swordsmanship of Gwinnett are like my second family. We train hard and play hard together. I can't envision a future without JSoG in my life.

I started taking Aiki-Bujutsu classes here about a year and a half ago and it has been amazing. The head of the school, Sensei Nayef Smith is exceptional and is very committed to helping each student reach their full potential. I highly recommend this school!
