Strange experience to say the least. This was my first and last time trying out Cannady for a plumbing maintenance request at one of my Savannah single-family rentals.
Scheduling was relatively easy, but they charge a $160/min, even if tech is only onsite for 15 mins (which was my case). In their defense, they do inform you upfront. Still, I was only okay with the minimum because I was led to believe I actually needed a repair and thusly required a larger invoice amount above the service minimum.
FWIW, to anyone reading this who doesn't already know, a service minimum is typical for a service business that's been acquired (aka, the Cannady family sold their business to either another private individual/hold co or a private equity firm). Once acquired, their business shifts from MEP services and focuses on lead generation and pure profit maximization, even at the expense of customer service (I confirmed while talking with the current "Owner" that the Cannady family sold this business previously). That said, they're seemingly doing everything they can to ramp up EBITDA for a presumable future exit/sale instead of simply focusing on their local market and providing reliable MEP services.
Additionally, Cannady Plumbing proved not to be business/landlord friendly. There was no option to bill through my AP dept. I literally had to verbally argue with them to finally send me the invoice in writing and allow me to pay the invoice online through their Quickbooks (to which I, like a child with an overbearing parent, had to remain on the phone while my online payment went through and felt like I was dealing with an angry collections agent who had chased down a rogue debtor).
When scheduling, they mentioned multiple payment options (cash, check, online, etc.). However, once the tech had finished his 15 mins of "work" (15 mins was per Christina, the operator who called me after to collect the payment), I was told that over-the-phone payment is the only payment type accepted. Then, I was threatened that "tech will not leave the property until payment is received."
Upon this, I was transferred to Tonya Reed, who was unpleasant and difficult to communicate with and claimed she was the "Owner" of the business. She became defensive when I asked if they dealt with business customers often (because of the difficulty in getting an insignificant invoice amount paid online). She claimed they work with "hundreds of thousands of business Owners." Aside from Savannah being an MSA with only a few hundred thousand residents and being clearly mistaken about how many businesses exist in the area, her demeanor was incredibly off-putting, and it was evident she had no real experience in dealing with business customers.
Buyer beware.
