On 1/8/2024. I took my 2015 Scion FRS to the Maavis shop at: 10815 State Bridge Rd., Alpharetta (Johns Creek), GA 30022
I paid for an oil/filter change, and was charged $110.84.
Imagine my surprise when the car's check engine light came on this week indicating an oil-related problem. I took the car to a reputable mechanic near our home, and was told there was no oil on the dipstick and no discernible leaks. In other words, your shop did not do the oil change properly, and either forgot to put fresh oil in the car or put in less oil than was necessary. We would have never noticed until the engine seized, but when we tried to sell the car, Carmax noticed the check engine light and informed us of the code. They also said that they would only give us $10K for the car due to the code. (expected amount was $13K).
We had the reputable mechanic change the oil properly and this corrected the code.
Your shop's incompetence almost cost us $3K.
As it is, we are out the $128.07 we were charged to fix the problem.
The way I see it, you cost me $128.07 plus the time/effort to run it around to get this corrected. Let's just call it an even $250.
Please contact me to reimburse $250 to correct this issue.
You can, of course, ignore this email, but then it will be our responsibility to inform the world via social media of the shady business practice of Maavis in general and the aforementioned shop specifically.
By the way, we did take the car back to the Maavis shop to have the check engine light/code checked, but they informed me that "they don't do that kind of thing at this shop" and that I should check with the auto parts store next door. I will not be using Maavis services ever again.
