Parking is an issue here if you work late or go to school at night. There is no assigned parking and thus people with 2-3 cars take up all the near unit spots. It is unsafe for a female to have to park so far from their unit after dark. If you try to park closer in a non designated spot for safety, you risk car being towed. Also, the property manager is slow to respond to problems. She tends to draw a conclusion without getting full input from the tenant. It took us several months to get a high water bill issue resolved and only got it resolved after talking to corporate.

Fantastic place to live! The lighting fast maintenance from Andy is unmatched, Mason and Bailey at the front desk are top tier individuals, and together they make a team that makes this place a pleasure to call home!

DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! The management here is two faced. They will act nice and do everything they can to get you to sign and give them your money. In reality, thats all they care about. There are many hidden fees here so read your lease carefully. Also you pay monthly for a pest control fee that goes to waste unless you schedule a maintenance request each month to have someone come spray. Every year they increase all these fees too. The outside of the buildings are never cleaned. Theres stains everywhere and bugs covering walls. Some balcony ceilings are black in color instead of white. Its filthy. The gates hardly ever work. Someone is always breaking them and instead of fixing them right away or keeping spare parts on hand they go months with it being broken. So if you want a gated community, don't live here. Beware, if you decide to leave before your lease contract is up you will be charged the equivalent of 4 months rent!! They claim you have to give a 60 day notice then pay a lease break fee equal to 2 months rent AND pay the remaining 60 days regardless of when you move out. The management here is dishonest, unprofessional, and unhelpful. The last two months we lived there, they were uncooperative, unwilling to answer questions and rude to us. Their upper management is the same way. When we tried to escalate up, they wouldnt respond to us. We tried calling the number on their email signature and the numbers didnt work. I got called back by a rude woman who had to block her phone number. For people who do live there, at the final walkthrough, make sure that if you are getting charged for anything you ask for how they came up with that number. You probably wont get a honest response because they cant explain or show you how they came up with that cost. You will likely have discrepancies between whats on your portal and the final itemized report they give you. Im honestly surprised this company hasnt gotten in huge trouble yet because they do some real shady and illegal things. Their time is coming though. Lastly: I know the community is going to respond like they do to every other negative post saying were so sorry you had a bad experience with us blah blah blah or try to disagree or straight out lie (they love lying and making things up). So dont believe in whatever BS response they provide on this post. They are by far the worst management team Ive ever dealt with.

If you are a single person with no friends and no pets, The Highland is a great place to live. The management is really nice and usually very helpful (especially Mason). However, there are a ton of rules you have to abide by and depending on which way the wind blows determines which rules they enforce. Examples: Parking is a huge issue, but no cars have ever been towed for illegally parking (in fact, half of the cars don't even use the decal provided), but on the flip side, if your dog poops in a bush/behind a tree/under a rock, you best bet your bottom dollar they will search and find it then fine you $350 each and every time. It's a little ridiculous tbh. But people who have glass at the pool, throw trash/food over fences in common areas, let their children splash and shoot other residents with water guns at the pool, allow their dogs to be off-leash, have loud parties, park illegally, etc. seem to not be fined, but rather just get a stern talking to or an email sent out to the community loosely about the rule break. So, I still haven't figured out entirely which rules they enforce and which ones they don't, which is rather frustrating as it seems that pet owners are the ones who are fined more than wild/loud children owners or various inconsiderate neighbors. There are also courtesy officers who live in the community, but from my experience are never available to help. Furthermore, this is supposed to be a gated community, but yet the gates are always open (which takes away from it actually being a gated community, which I'm sure we pay more for). The issue seems to be the quality of the gates and the frequency in which they break, but there comes a point where might should consider replacing the gate system if it is putting the safety of your community at risk (such a theft, which has also happened numerous times). And when the gates DO work, they dont actually work because the call box is janky and the resident gate still breaks often causing residents to have to use the janky call box and not be able to get into their own community. Kind of like the fire pit that was broken for over a year before it was finally fixed. There comes a point to where constant fixing isn't the answer, but replacing with something better might be... especially when residents are paying for an amenity they aren't able to use. I used to really love living here. I used to attend every event and really vibed with the management. But, it seems with some turnover in both maintenance and the main office, along with all of the fines, rules, emails about rules that they won't actually fine you for, things breaking, and then having certain amenities (which our rent pays for) having to be paid for to reserve them or only be available when the leasing office is open... just seems like the complex has shifted from a resident first mindset (which is what I used to love most about this place, and what drew me to the complex to begin with) to more of a "bottom line/nickel and dime" profit off of the residents mind set. And yet another more example of the complex not caring about the residents is the fact that if you ask the maintenance people to do something (such as change out smoke alarm batteries so they dont chirp like mine has since 4 AM), theyre in no rush to help. I physically asked them at 7:45 AM when they arrived at the complex to help me because I havent been able to sleep and my dogs were terrified of the beeping and it has been over an hour and still no sign of them. If that isnt proof in itself that they dont care, I dont know what is. (They also dont automatically change our smoke alarm batteries during preventative maintenance apparently so, every single resident will have to experience what Im experiencing in order to have their smoke alarm batteries changed and the chirping to stop.) I really hope that The Highland will become (again) what it once was, but on a scale of 1 to 5, sadly, at this point, this once 5-star property only gets a mediocre 2 from me.
