WOW.. its pretty obvious you don't even have the correct business. For quite a few reasons that i'd be glad to point out. While deciphering your rambling and illiterate review, this is how we came to the conclusion that you definitely have the WRONG business. We don't charge $150 for diagnostics. NONE of our quotes for ANY transmission are $6000 exactly, nor have we ever told a customer it would be "$6000" to rebuild their transmission. We give more exact quotes than that. But this is where I was CERTIAN that you most definitely have the WRONG SHOP... we NEVER build transmissions or fix vehicles with customer supplied parts. EVER. No exceptions. So you saying that someone told you they would charge you labor if you provided the parts COULD NOT have been us. In all the years we have done business we have never, and will never work on vehicles with customer supplied parts. Nor would ANY of the people at James Transmissions have quoted you for work using your parts, or even entertained that request. Your review is rambling, illiterate, incoherent, rude, and quite frankly offensive. We will be reporting it. Because, you either have the wrong business, or you are just blatantly making up lies. Also, if it wasn't already obvious that you have the wrong business, I have no one by your name in any of my records nor do I or anyone else at my shop remember anyone by your name or anything regarding your rambling review.

This customer is upset because she had to pay for a diagnostic. The owner of the vehicle had her sister drop off the vehicle. Her sister failed to read the big sign in the office that said “Complete Diagnostic $125” and thought that we were going to diagnose the vehicle for free. We completed the diagnostic and determined that the transmission needed to be rebuilt. When James notified the OWNER (not the individual who came into the office) James said and I QUOTE “Just let me know what you want to do, if you don’t want us to fix it all you owe me is $125 for the diagnostic” There was two other individuals in the office who heard this conversation, yet the owner says that never happened and tells the person picking up the vehicle (her sister) that she was never told that. Nonetheless, it is posted in our office “Complete diagnostic $125”. It is not our fault if a customer fails to listen to what we tell them on the phone, and the person dropping off the vehicle fails to read the signs posted in the office. We post the sign on our office because of this very thing. It’s very rare, but we occasionally (1-2 times per year) have customers who act like we didn’t tell them they have to pay for a complete and thorough diagnostic, so we have a sign posted in plain view for anyone who walks into the office to see so there are no surprises. When you have a sign posted in plain view, all fees are legal and legitimate. After the customer had left they decided to call back AGAIN and argue MORE then threatened to get a lawyer and all of that mess. If you want to sue us because you didn’t listen to what we said on the phone, didn’t read the sign saying a diagnostic is $125, and think we are supposed to preform 1-3 hours of labor for FREE, go right ahead.DIAGNOSTIC SERVICE IS AS FOLLOWS:When we diagnose a vehicle we scan each and every computer system on the vehicle, check fluid level/condition (which requires putting the vehicle on a lift when there is no dipstick), check every sensor and solenoid on the transmission for electrical and mechanic issues, and test drive the vehicle. This is very time consuming and takes a couple hours to do properly. Again, our fee ($125 for the service listed above) is legal, legitimate, reasonable, and posted in the office along with our hourly rate and other customer announcements. It is ridiculous to get upset at a business because they made you pay for their services like everyone else. NO ONE is entitled to FREE labor. So the individual leaving the review is correct, if you expect us to provide free services and labor, and then cause trouble when you don’t get it for free, then you should find a different place to take your vehicle, because we do not work for free. Although, I don’t know any shops that will do anything more than a simple scan for free. Things like this are what makes it difficult to be a small business owner. No one owes you free labor. Especially when you were both told, and there is a sign posted in plain view that every single other customer seems to have saw except you.

image Was told the whole transmission needed to be rebuilt for an estimate of $5500. Got a second opinion and was told the transmission was fine, the torque converter was fine, and that it was only a history code that needed to be cleared. Hard to find a honest mechanic. Be sure to get a second opinion before taking this ones opinion.

When we diagnose a vehicle that includes scanning it. We use the best scanning tool available which is called the Snap-On Zeus Complete Diagnostic Center. For starters, when we scan ANY vehicle, after we see the codes and print them out WE CLEAR THEM automatically. I’m not sure what the other shop told you, but ANY code that was in your vehicle (not just transmission codes but any code) was cleared by us as soon as we scanned it. So you saying “it was only a history code that needed to be cleared” is incorrect considering we cleared any and all codes when we scanned it. That means the code came back for it to even be present when you went to another shop. Our scanner clears current and history codes. Most history codes erase automatically anyways without doing anything if the vehicle’s computer doesn’t see the issue for around 40 start-ups. But, the most important thing is this…. You have to ask yourself why you had a torque converter code in your vehicle in the first place?? It doesn’t just set that code for no reason. Clearing codes doesn’t fix anything. A code sets when your vehicle’s computer sees a problem a certain number of times. Considering the fact that this vehicle has never had any transmission repairs done, that code was correct and the problem that caused the code hasn’t been solved. You do in fact have a transmission issue. There are valves and other components inside of the transmission that control the torque converter lockup and these components wear. To fix that issue you can’t just put a converter in it, because those wore out components that control the torque converter lockup will damage the new torque converter. You have to go inside of the transmission and fix all of those wore out parts and then clean everything out which, at that point, is the same price as a rebuild. Not to mention the fact that if those components are wore out, other parts are close to wearing out also. Your vehicle had a code in it because the computer saw a transmission issue. Clearing the code did not fix the issue because WE cleared the code and it came back for the other shop to even see it. History or current, it doesn’t matter because it came back. Whether it’s next week, next month, or in a few months you will have to replace/rebuild your transmission because it will stop working all together. We do not lie to our customers. We have no reason to. We aren’t hurting for work and we have a reputation to uphold. If we told you that your vehicle had a transmission issue, then it did. Codes don’t show up when there are no problems. We are honest with our customers and don’t lie to them to get work. We have never done that and never will do that to our customers.
