Rico's Pizza Gulfgate

I have never eaten in this restaurant, not have I had their pizza, but let me tell you ... Their cheesecake is FABULOUS! I ordered a whole one for a birthday and WOW! I'll def be back to try the pizza and have a slice in house. If you need a cheesecake, run, don't walk to Riley's Cheesecake in the Rico's Pizza in Gulf Gate.

I'm a single professional female in my mid. 50s and don't order out too often but when I want a good pizza. I go to Rico's. It's always been very good, but an apprentice is reasonable. But tonight. , I don't know if they had a different pizza, chef. Or what? But it was horrible. I had been craving pizza for 2 weeks. Finally took the plunge and spent over $30 on a simple pizza. With spinach and onions and it was dry as cardboard with an obvious lack of passion!!! There was minimal sauce and cheese. To much wilted spinach, the crust was so hard,I couldn't even bite it and ZERO FLAVER ! I am extremely disappointed this time and I am a native here to Sarasota who orders frequently. Please re-train your cooks!!!!!!

My many year association with Rico's came to an end today. We have been loyal customers driving 5 miles one way when we have other pizzerias that are physically closer. We ordered 2 pizzas online at their website at 230pm for a 615pm pickup when our movie theatre let out. We arrived at 630pm, 15 min. late and they had "mistakenly" given our pizzas to someone else. Mind you we had already paid online and with a 15% tip for a pickup order So you feel like you are rewarding incompetence when they cannot execute the basics of their jobs. This was the last straw. Our last 2 orders also were less than satisfactory the last time with us showing up on time only to be told it would be 20min. The time before that the crust was burnt. Cant they get the basics of the pizza craft and customer service right? Not trying anymore to find out while they try to find out how to run a business.

Had a great Saturday night dinner. Four people, three dishes, including an 18 Works pizza, add garlic and jalapeos, YUM! A bowl of spaghetti and clams with red sauce, and stuffed shells. The two pasta bowls came with garlic bread and good sized side salads. And aAdded a small Greek salad that was enough to split. The pizza was GREAT and also very good on the reheat the next day. The stuffed shells were good, if thats your thing, not mine. But the star of the show, was the spaghetti and clams in red sauce extra garlic and extra spicy !!! Dont let the 3 stars on atmosphere dissuade you. Its just that its a hole in the wall, pretty small and well used. A LOT of people came for pick ups and their drivers were busy with deliveries. Last but not least, our service was great due to our server Nalan, who was very busy, but remained smiling, friendly and attentive!!!
