My husband and I have been looking for a Vet for our bunny of 3 years who is our everything and our little princess. After 2 vets who we didnt feel comfortable with, we thank God for leading us here to Paws and Claws. The staff were absolutely amazing especially Ashley and Jessica and Deville. We were greeted by Ashley and she had such a sweet and happy spirit which immediately made us feel as home. Jessica was kind care compassionate and gave us so much information during our visit that we immediately knew this would be our new home vet for our baby Becky. Deville was very kind courteous and a great help while Jessica gave our bunny a check up. If you are looking for knowledgeable staff who have a passion for exotic animals this is hands down the place to come!! I know you will have the most amazing experience just like we did! We feel at ease knowing our bunny is finally in good hands xoxo

Paws and Claws Medical Center Dr. Ramon de Armas (Owner) and Senior Vet 3858 SW 137 Avenue, Miami, FL 33175 On late December 2020, one of the white pigeons living in my balcony had an accident where she showed up bleeding with a bad cut under the crop area. Realizing the severity of the wound I took the bird in and immediately started searching for a avian veterinary. Most of the ones I found would not see the pigeon for being more of a fowl than an exotic bird. I found by search Paws and Claws clinic I called them and the receptionist inform me that they would see the bird. I din't ask to many question due to the emergency at hand. I drove for quite a distance and finally arrived at the clinic. The pigeon was placed in an oxygen chamber immediately because of difficulty breathing, while I filled the paper work. I completed my information and handed the paper to the lady attending to me which took them in to doctor Ramon de Armas. A while later I was presented with an estimate of nearly $700 in order to continue attending the bird. That was an unexpected amount and I just dint have that amount with me at the time. I had taken what I had available which was $200. I offered to leave it as down payment and make a later payment to cover the cost. My offer was flat out refused and was told the amount needed to be paid in full at time of service. After pleading to the staff to allow me to arrange payments and getting no where with them, I ask to speak to the doctor. Mr. Ramon de Armas came out and informed me he could not attend to the bird if I dint have the money and that they did not accept partial payments. I was hit by lightning since I knew the bird would die, obviously DR. Ramon's priority was the money and clearly not saving the animal's life. Mr DeArmas had the power to make the difference but life to him had a price. I had no choice than to ask for the bird back, which was taken off the oxygen chamber and immediately started gasping for air again. I was actually told that there was a charge for putting the bird on oxygen, I think of about $75 but is was later dismissed, I guess because of the expression on my face. - WoW! -When I got home I tried several other county animal agencies but all they offer was to euthanize the bird. By now the bird was in a heavy breathing state, gasping for air, not eating or drinking and I knew it was too late to save him. I tried again tohelp the bird and started sewing the wound myself but all I was doing was making the bird suffer even more. I gave up and accepted the bird was going to die, then pray that the animal would die quickly and with the least of suffering. The bird lasted throughout the rest of that day and night came. It was 1:00 AM when I last looked at the clock, I had not been able to sleep due to the desperate, heavy, breathing gasping sound of the bird which sounded like an acute human athma attack. I finally just passed out to sleep. The next day I jumped out of bed and run to the cage where I found the the bird dead, the beak was tightly clamped to one of the bars of the cage, as if a desperate attempt to breathe became his last attempt for life. I was so overwhelmed I started feeling nauseus. I have been an animal activist most of my lifetime and this was not the first time where an animal in my possession have died, but for some reason this one was a very disturbing situation which I often still think about in desperation. All I can recall is how Mr. DeArmas had the power to save a creature's life and refuse to do so because of not enough immediate cash. I would have paid the money for the emergency even if the bird would have not survived the surgery. I would have signed any kind legal document and present any kind of identification to assure my commitment to pay but I suppose this bird's life value was set at a miserable total of $700 which I just didnt have it all at the time. This place is a scam. I took my bird to go see him because he was sneezing They didnt x-ray and what Im understanding you cannot scan their nostrils so you cannot see inside their nostrils so that was a waste of money He was treated for some metal that he had a long time ago and he was focused on that not because of the sneezing thats why I really took him for. third they actually thought my bird had some kind of disease I dont know where they got that from but that was $436 just to check out if you had a disease and and another 400 for x-rays came to my bill to $845 With paper sign, then I dont know where the owners wife I think is here im not sure Im assuming well, she charged me charge me 875. And she got up look for A receive couldnt find no receive no papers so I left. so yesterday he had en appointment wit him original doctor asked for the paperwork guess what they did not send it thank God I took pictures of his medicine and showed it to him But really, dont recommend this please. look up for Dr. Harrison best doctor He tells you things how they are.

Dear Mister Jose Espino, we are so sorry that your racing pigeon died from its large and old chronic wounds and nobody was able or willing to help you, as you well said, not even stated funded animal clinics or rescue groups or even non for profit organizations dedicated to the care of animals for the low income community were willing to lend a hand.As a small, family owned, veterinary hospital we are in no position to finance clients procedures, we are not a bank, we are a pet hospital, and as you mentioned in your review, we normally don't turn anybody away, but we do require for clients that bring their sick pets to us for medical and surgical care to make payments in full. We are 100% dedicated and devoted to our patients and fully vested in the practice of veterinary medicine. As a private organization that does not receive any funding or donations, keeping overhead expenses at a minimum is what has helped us maintain our costs under control and allowed us to continue to offer our services during these difficult times.Once again thank you for review,Respectfully,Dr. De Armas

Dear Mr. Erazo,We want to extend our sincerest apologies for any distress or confusion the recent visit to our hospital has caused you. Our primary objective is always the well-being of our patients, and we assure you that the actions taken during Cananeo's appointment were in his best interest. We understand that your primary concern when you came in was due to Cananeo's sneezing, but it is worth noting that the clinical signs of decreased appetite, preexisting fatty liver disease and metal ingestion were also of concern. In avian medicine, sneezing and a loss of appetite, with history of liver disease and metal toxicity signal conditions requiring immediate attention.Cananeo's history of fatty liver, ingested metal, decreased appetite and fatty liver a comprehensive approach was necessary to rule out any life-threatening correlations. Diagnostics such as X-rays, while seeming unrelated to the sneezing, provide us with a broader understanding of his overall health and are essential tools in our diagnostic process. Despite the unexpected cost, these measures are vital to ensure we are not missing any underlying conditions that could harm Cananeo's health. We understand the importance of effective communication and can comprehend how the billing concern could have caused additional stress. Our policy is that documents are provided electronically, and all clients have access to their pet's records directly from their profile and also via email. Clarity and transparency in our billing process is always a priority.Kindly accept our apologies if any paperwork was not promptly forwarded; this is not our standard practice. In the meantime, we have sent all the necessary documents to your original veterinarian. Even though we sent medication for the possible metal ingestion toxicity as we have no way to determine if that metal found on radiographs was the same he had ingested a while back or a newly ingested piece, we also sent a complete treatment plan for respiratory infection, which you failed to mention on your review. If you have any further concerns or if there is anything more we can do to assist you; please do not hesitate to reach out.Warm regards,Dr. de Armas
