Health First's Viera Hospital

I was at Viera Hospital on May 2, 2022. Gave my insurance information but when they submitted my info, my name was misspelled. I called a few times to get it corrected but they never did. Now my account has been sent to a collection agency. Im an old person but I can spell and follow directions. Shame on these people.

I went to the emergency room on Sunday 1/22 at 6:30 pm with chest pain and shortness of breath,. After 3 and a half hours and several requests I was led to a room where I was handed a gown and told you know the drill! I asked why the gown the nurse said thats the only way the doctor will see you, what did you think was going to happen! I said I would like to have my BP checked again and talk with the doctor. The nurse stuck out the gown again and said the doctor is going to order test and blood work so get in the gown! I said good bye and walked out! This is no way to treat a patient wilt chest pains! Not very reassuring or professional!

Had shoulder surgery 2 days ago and ended up being admitted for pain. What a great Or team and set of nurses I had. Thanks for making my stay as pleasant as possible!

My son was vomiting and in extreme pain with an intestinal blockage so he went to the Viera Regional Hospital emergency room on Monday evening around 8:30-9:00 PM. 24 hours later, he was still in a gurney in the ER hallway awaiting a bed. Unfortunately, although they did a CT scan and saw a blockage, they said all they could do is give him morphine every 4 hrs and wait for a bed/room upstairs in order to be able to use the NG tube to vacuum fluid from his stomach, while taking xrays with contrast to determine where the blockage was. They finally got him a room at 9 PM the following (Tues)evening and then he had to wait over an hour after they inserted the NG tube into his nose and down to his stomach to have an Xray to determine if tube placed correctly! Horrible, painful initial 24+ hours. Finally, relieving the pressure helped and he was able to go to the bathroom and continued with supervision that evening and the next until he was released, without requiring surgery!! Based upon this experience with him, I would NOT recommend Viera Regional for any emergency- better to drive to Holmes. One positive in this entire experience was the Charge Nurse on the 4th floor- Jennifer Ripple who was OUTSTANDING!! On a scale of 1-10, she was at least a 10+++!! She was meticulous, compassionate and the most outstanding nurse, who really advocates for her patients! She totally deserves the highest commendation possible and is a credit to her profession; the absolute BEST!! Thank you again Jennifer Ripple!! You are a bright shining star who deserves superior recognition!!
