Kindness, love and compassion are rarely equated with psychological support. Instead, there is often a stigma associated with the help that we all-too-often fight, or refuse to accept. I know because, after losing the love of my life after 53-years, I was lost within the ugly thoughts of what I would now face. My total being felt like a jigsaw puzzle, with each of the 1,000 pieces thrown everywhere; each integral part a broken segment of my heart unsure exactly how to rejoin together. Deep down inside I knew that I had to do something; I had to turn somewhere for help because, alone, I wouldnt survive. I couldnt survive. I was just unable to pull myself through the pain and confusion. Did this reflect on me as being (heres that stigma again) a mental case? Of course not! I just needed some guidance. Thats when I reached out to Dr. Janine Furdella and, also, Dr. Dennis London, at The Psychology Group of Fort Lauderdale. Their level of professionalism and compassion has made such a difference to me. Theyve helped me to figure out how, best, to reassemble the fragmented pieces of my life while, at the same time, allowing me the space to deal with my loss, and pain, in a positive, yet productive, manner. Everyone at The Psychology Group really cares. In all honesty, without them I have absolutely no idea where, nor how, I would be right now. Thank you Dr. Furdella,, and Dr. London, for helping me realize that I still have a purpose, and that I can (and will) continue to write the chapters of my book, my life.

You will fall in love with Rachel on your very first meeting. Her kindness and compassion along with her sharp therapeutic skills are just a few of the great things about her. I recommend her highly especially with young adults with depression and anxiety.

Kara Hicks, MSW, LCSW is a great clinician who is authentic and skilled in working with individuals, couples, and children. I have worked with Kara as a peer in a forensic mental health setting and as a therapist in the community. She has extensive training in several modalities of treatment and exudes professionalism and warmth in all that she does. I would not hesitate in recommending her as a therapist, she easily develops rapport and always brings a spirit of hope to her work.
