Do Not buy from Oakwood or any other builder in Reunion unless you want to pay $5000 in Metro District Taxes per year on top of your inflated property taxes. And dont be fooled by the tax estimate on new builds (it is taxed as vacant land until you buy it).

Cristina was amazing throughout our buying process. When we arrived to check out one home design, she suggested another next door, which we absolutely loved compared to the initial option. Despite it being slightly above our budget, Cristina and the Oakwood team collaborated with us to make our dream home a reality. Although we had preapproval from our own lender, we ultimately chose Oakwood's preferred lender, Nest, thanks to the assistance of Nora and Kelsey, who were instrumental in the process. If you're in the market for a new home, I highly recommend speaking with Cristina. She ensures you're well taken care of throughout the entire journey.

As prospective buyers it was very difficult for us to get some of the information we asked for from the sales team specifically the property tax rate. We kept getting the run around and some unclear answers and were pointed to metro district webpage which doesn't make it abundantly clear what the rate is either. After seeing a number of negative reviews we did our own research and determined the property tax rate is over 213 mills of which over 98 mills goes to the developer controlled Reunion Metro District. Ultimately, we will be taking our business elsewhere, but wanted to warn other prospective buyers of the extremely high taxes. The amenities are great, but simply don't justify that high of a rate as there are plenty of communities with similar level of amenities with a far lower tax rate. Based on our calculations, on a roughly $400,000 home this will be close to $6,000 in annual property taxes, which equates to $500 a month on top of your mortgage and insurance once the home is appraised by the county.

The 2,500-acre community is located along 104th Avenue near E-470 in the northeast Denver Metro area. The high plains location offers great vistas of the Front Range and is just north of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, south of Barr Lake State Park, and a convenient 15 minute drive to Denver International Airport (DIA).
