image Dental Center of West Los Angeles has been my goto dental service provider for over 15 years! Maggie, the dental professional who does my cleanings, is efficient and compassionate. I've had fillings, tooth repair and root canals done here, all without any issues.

image tl;dr: they charge enormous amounts of money for shoddy work.
During my wife’s first visit with Dr. Slutsky, he told her that she needed an inlay placed “right away” in her tooth, and if she waited any longer she would have to get a root canal. Dr. Slutsky just so happened to have an opening to do the procedure right then - it was a very high pressure, do-this-procedure-right-now-or-you’ll-lose-your-tooth situation. She got the inlay placed per the dentist’s advice, despite the fact that she wasn’t having any trouble with the tooth at that time. She was charged $765 for the procedure, which seemed a bit fishy to us; the lady at the front desk said it was so expensive because the dentist used a “special, top of the line substance that costs over $1000 in the inlay,” so we were getting a “great deal.” I asked the front desk for the name of the procedure and the insurance billing codes for it - the lady at the front desk did NOT want to give them to me! Finally after I made it clear I was not going to pay until she gave me the itemized receipt, she gave me the information, muttering under her breath that doing so was a “waste of her time.” (FYI, the inlay was listed as “porcelain” on the billing code). When we got home, we called the insurance company and found that the price we SHOULD have paid for the procedure was $300, far less than what we were charged - the insurance said we should seek a refund from the dentist.
This started a month long battle with the office where we would call the office with the insurance agent on the line, and the front desk worker stated that we were lying about how much we paid (although we had receipts), that we didn’t get that particular procedure done (they hadn’t yet submitted the claim to the insurance company), and stating that the insurance company hadn’t sent them the correct payment schedule. I was so glad that we had insisted on getting the itemized receipt before paying, or else it would have literally been our word against their’s that they even did a procedure on my wife! At the end of the first phone call, the insurance agent got the office to agree to giving us a refund in 2 weeks time.
I called the office back when we were supposed to get our refund, was put on hold for about 30 minutes, then was told I’d receive a call back after the office manager had been contacted “in about an hour.” I never got a call back. About 4 hours later I called the office again; I was put on hold for about 15 minutes then the line went dead. I called back 5 more times, and each time I was hung up on immediately. I finally called the insurance company who called the office, and stated that if the didn’t give us the agreed-upon refund that we would file a grievance against the office. When they heard that, they agreed to refund $415 ($50 less than what we were overcharged for my wife’s procedure, but it was a heck of a lot better than nothing). We drove into the office immediately and we *finally* got the refund for my wife’s procedure.
In the months since my wife got the inlay placed by Dr. Slutsky, she has been having more and more trouble with the tooth he worked on. We’ve since gone to a new dentist who essentially said that the inlay was placed badly, and because of it, my wife is experiencing pain with chewing and sensitivity (again, she was having no symptoms before Dr. Slutsky placed the inlay). We are currently working with our new dentist to fix these new problems.
Look up this office on yelp and see other people's experience before going here.
