The folks at Holiday Villas East were excellent and honorable. They went out of their way to make sure of my Mother's comfort even though it was a shorter stay! I would certainly reccomend them!

If I could give this rating a minus score I would and please note before you read any further; Holiday Villa is not an Assisted Living Facility. In fact, there isn't any assistance whatsoever as far as I can tell. Hoilday Villa East was substandard on all levels except for the fact that it's more affordable due to the city of Santa Monica rent control. The facility itself was filthy dirty, empty whiskey bottle found in my dad's room upon move-in; poor front desk management - often unoccupied and in part managed by disheveled tenants. We had to wait more than 10 mins. for a tenant walking inside the facility to gain access while the desk remained unoccupied and kevs to the front entry door/gate are not issued to tenants. All power was lost due to a non-functioning back-up emergency lighting system - tenants were in a total state of panic and disarray with no one explaining the problem. Their recommended and endorsed caregiving service provider is understaffed with a 1:14 ratio of caregiver to those paying for the care giving service. The food was subpar at best. Ownership proved to be unreasonable, unjust and unfair when a less than 24 hour stay, due to all the above inferior conditions and then some, resulted in immediate vacating of the premises. They refused to return all the funds they received and charged my 97 year old father $2,000 for a less than 24 hr stay.I was scammed when the manager asked that I withdraw my original Yelp review for 3 months, which I did, with the promise that he would return the balance of the money I paid. He not only did not do so, he refused my calls and emails. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone who cars about proper care and cleanliness for their parent much less a facility that has any commitment whatsoever to integrity and honesty.
