    I went to this branch on Monday, 3/4/2024, to close my safety deposit box. I stepped in and directly talked to the branch manager Michelle regarding to this matter, she asked me to have a seat first and told me the wait time will be 20-30 minutes. After I waited there for 40 mins, Michelle came over said the banker who was gonna help has an appointment later, so I have to get in line at the windows and she will assist one of the tellers to close the box for me. So I got in line, waited for another 10-15 mins, and finally got to start the closing process. The teller and Michelle first took me to the safety deposit box room, after I pull out my box, I went to the private room to take out my stuff inside it. After I closed the door, I realized that the light does not work in this private room. Because I have wasted too much time waiting earlier, I did not want to waste extra time to call them back, so I just used the my phones flashlight as the light source which is not so convenient. After I have done, I followed the teller and Michelle to the window again to finish the closing process. When the process was almost over, Michelle told me that I have a $65 past due for my safety box. I told her that is not possible, I got charged last year for this box. She said the fee is for upcoming year. I got confused, said I am here closing the box now, so I should not get charged for the service that I am not going to have later. Then she said the renewal date started one day earlier, which is 3/3/2024, and today is 3/4, so I have to pay the fee for the period from 3/4/24-3/3/25. Since 3/3 falls on Sunday, so I told her that was not possible for me to close it on 3/3 because the branch does not open on Sunday, and I am here right after that date to close the service. However, she said it is my responsibility to close the box before the renewal date. Then I tried to talk to her to see if she can pro rate the fee and charge me for this extra day, she said no she cannot, and I will be charged for the whole period without exception. By the time I was negotiating with her, she interrupted me rudely couple of times by questioning me do you still want to close the box or not? After I left, I immediately called customer service helpline and got transferred to the representative who handles this matter. Through the phone, the representative told me that I will not be charged for this $65 fee; if I have, I just need to call back and she will assist to cancel this charge. I have been Chase client for a long time, and I was always impressed by chase customer service. However, I did not have a pleasant experience at this branch. So much of my time has been wasted here, I really hope Chase can have a better service at this branch and better training for certain employees.
