I was assisting my niece with applying for health insurance online through Covered California when I ran into some trouble. My niece is 18 years old and they could not verify her identity based on a lack of credit history. I called Covered Ca and an agent  instructed me to contact Michelle Lin to help verify my niece's identity. Why would someone at Covered Ca (a federally funded insurance marketplace) instruct me to contact a private insurance broker? Well, at the time I was unaware that Ms. Lin is a private broker. When I called Ms. Lin she was very rude throughout the duration of our exchange. I informed her of who I was, the reason I was calling, and that an agent (couldn't remember a name) with Covered Ca gave me her phone number. She seemed so taken aback that I was contacting her and possibly offended. Ms. Lin said she didn't understand why I was calling her and asked who I was after I had given my explanation. I repeated myself and apologized if I was mistakenly given her phone number to contact. She rebuffed by saying that she understood now and that it wasn't clear as to what I needed at first. Ms. Lin confirmed that she could in fact help with identity verification, but she was currently unavailable. When I asked her whom I should contact she hung up on me. Realistically, the exchange was not as polite as what I have recounted here, Ms. Lin was totally unprofessional and down right rude.I did some internet research after my unpleasant exchange with Ms. Lin and could not find her as an employee with Covered California. I was surprised to find that she is a private insurance broker, I thought I had been directed to another Covered Ca employee. I don't believe Covered Ca would send any cases to an independent insurance broker, such as Michelle Lin. If they do in fact use Ms. Lin's services that is a shame, as she seemed to be uninterested and was unprofessional.

I wish all professional services were this professional and stress-free. Michelle clearly knows her job extremely well. She understood my situation, made recommendations, made it easy for me to make a sensible choice of insurance, and gave me clear explanations and advice when I needed it. I wish I needed insurance more often, it's been a pleasure!

I was trying to insure a new policy. Michelle was very helpful. She even went through my CC&R's and advised me with the right policy. She could have easily given me the highest quote, but she explained me what my Master insurance covers. I very much recommend her business
