We stayed at a family suite; the rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast was decent. However, our suite faced Waller Street, not the park, and there was a big construction site on Waller Street. I was disappointed; I booked Stanyan Park because it was right across the street from Golden Gate Park, but all I could see was the construction site. The building is old, so we could hear steps upstairs and the talking next door. The toilet could not fill the water tank by itself, so we had to prepare a bucket of water to fill the tank.

My daughter and I had a great experience at this hotel. I loved the old charming San Francisco vibe with wall papers and old furniture. The room was clean, bright and welcoming. They include breakfast and wine hour with snacks. The location is exceptional, across the street from the Golden Gate Park, stores and amazing restaurants. Theres also a public garage a few steps away. We felt safe and the staff was great. After reading a few negatives reviews here I was a bit skeptical, but I have to say that it exceeded my expectations.

Wonderful find! A small, well furnished hotel across from Golden Gate Park. Good parking (paid lot) close by. Quiet neighborhood.

Great location and a fine stay, but we had some issues with this stay. Pros: Great location, super quiet. They ended up giving us a huge apartment-like room for 4 guests. Cozy breakfast area and breakfast was provided. Cons: Our apartment-like room was super drafty and a little bit creepy. It looked like an older apartment that was converted into a hotel room. To access it, we had to go into their courtyard to get to the room, which had a mysterious dark hallway. The street noise was fine even though the other side of the room was facing the street. The biggest complaint here is that a few days after the booking, I noticed a $200 charge. I called in to ask about the additional charge and I was told by a non-manager it was a damage fee. I asked for more details and they let me know it looked like damage to a chandelier and the roll-away bed--but to confirm they would have to connect me to the manager. The manager was out for the weekend, so I tried again the following week. After many calls to the front desk over multiple days, the manager was always busy or did not return my call or email. I could not successfully talk to the manager about this alleged damage, which I know we did not commit because we're respectful, well-traveled guests. In order to get more details on the damage or to settle on a resolution, I had to speak with the manager but alas, he was nowhere to be found. I disputed this on my CC -- beware!
