Had a great experience here, was referred by a friend in a time of need and the staff was amazing and the dentist was patient, kind and very knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend to anyone that needs a dentist in sf. Check this one out for yourself.

A big  Thumbs-up to Dr. Vivian Cui, a highly professional, talented and experienced dentist.  Her attention to details, thoroughness and fine skills result in high quality teeth restoration and comfort to patients.   I was particularly impressed with her creativeness, as she was the only dentist I could find that helped repair my crown with receding gum line due to aging two years ago.  Recently she not only offered me a free electronic tooth brush, but also above and beyond dental work with senior discount.   As an elderly, I am deeply touched and grateful for her kindness and care.    I highly recommend her without reservation.

I attended dental school around the corner from this practice roughly a decade ago, during that time my wife was the office manager of this practice. After practicing dentistry for the past decade i have truly come to respect Dr Cui. She is an absolute perfectionist, who operates under a high standard and ethical/moral compass. This is the best practice in Pacific Heights and I would recommend anybody to this office! Youre welcome in advance! :)

I have never felt more uncomfortable about a dental experience. I picked this dentist because they are close to where I live. I called and asked if they took my insurance and they said yes. I've never once had to pay out of pocket for a teeth cleaning and the bill for a routine cleaning was almost $1000 and had line items that I don't even understand. They told me I needed to come back for two fillings - again I have not had a filling so I was a bit skeptical but scheduled the follow up anyway. The staff emailed me saying my out of pocket would be $300 and then at the appointment, the staff told me it was going to be over $500 out of pocket and that after this treatment, I would not enough insurance to get a routine cleaning at the end of the year. I am going to get a second opinion before letting them drill into my mouth. I feel as though they are trying to squeeze extra revenue and have been very misleading. This is a convenient location but I would steer clear.

I have been going her for a bit more than 2 years and they have a lovely office, very well run, have the latest treatments and the equipment they need to go with it.  Treatment there is very good indeed. However, be very careful if you use insurance.  My spouse and I have Delta Dental which they accept but there are few caveats.   On one visit, they recommended that I see a periodontist and offered to give me a consultation appointment for a traveling periodontist that came to their office on certain days.  I was told that the cost would be $200 for the consultation.  That seemed high to me and after consulting with Delta Dental, I found out that the fee was higher than it should have been.  It took me a few phone calls to finally get the answer that this visiting periodontist did NOT take any insurance.  So of course, it makes no sense for me to use someone that won't take my insurance since I pay for it every month.  I found a periodontist on my own who would take Delta at a very reasonable cost.  My spouse was not so lucky a few weeks ago and paid $250 for a consultation with another traveling or perhaps the same specialist.  He was also referred to a non-Delta dentist for the recommended surgery.  Obviously, we will find someone who will take our insurance.  Perhaps it's not PHDS job to know if the specialist they recommend or who come into their offices takes Delta. But I warn you to ask them every time if your insurance will be accepted for any and all procedures.Another thing - Last time after a cleaning, I was handed a little plastic tube that looked like some kind of sample and was told it was a fluoride treatment to take home.  I saw the bill for it later - $60 which I was to pay $10 copay  through Delta.   After brushing my teeth with fluoride toothpaste for 60 years, I hardly need a fluoride treatment and to charge $60 for a little gel seems over the top to me.  Again, I didn't ask if there was a charge.  Next time I will refuse it.I do understand that times are hard these days recovering from COVID and so maybe for their practice as well.  I don't really begrudge them the huge profit for an unnecessary fluoride treatment.  But the unnecessary $250 consultation does bother me.  We will wind up finding a Delta dentist for another consultation cost and treatment.  So the $250 is down the drain as it were. At least I hope PHDS got a good share of that fee.
