back -Signed Contract did not perform work as agreed up in contract- Would not give any details on work hours and materials costs on general scope of the work.- Gave a original quote of $28,000 for the job then kept running up additional charges.Work performed was substandard - I call another contractor to look at his work and he showed us how bad it was plywood had gaps on the seams.This was only one of the many flaws that were pointed out to me.The exteriors walls were not insulated fully - I asked him if the wall was fully insulated and he told me it was. I suspected something was not right when I just happed to look at some of the work and I could see out was not insulated. So I ordered a fiberoptic camera and looked inside some other completed walls and they were hollow and not insulated even though I had it in the contract and paid for it. He wanted to be paid up front before work was started - this is against the law in the state of California. But again I trusted him and paid for work not started. This was huge error on my part.Also he performed worked without a City of San Mateo building permit.We had some addresses of other jobs ( he gave us the addresses for work references) he did so we checked ALL the addresses - NONE had any building permits done.- He wanted to charge $90,000.00 (extra) for a repair job on a single wallThen would not give any account what the exacts costs were.We had the wall repaired for $1800.00 by another contractor. Mark came back  and saw the work our other contractor did  and proceeded to tear out the wall - WITHOUT my permission - he said the building inspector was coming and needed to see inside the wall. We actually had to come out and tell the workers to stop tearing out the walls - they were about to tear down all the wall of our house without permission. I asked to see the building permit which I knew there was none and he was not able to show any building permit. He gave us a phoney building permit number we checked with the City of San Mateo - with the number he provided - there was NO issued permit with that number. The contract even mentioned the permits and fees we were charged for them. ($400.00)We did some investigating  and Bank of America in LA filed a lawsuit against him for work not completed.I am not picky and did not micro manage the job as I should have. Bottom line I trusted Mark and he scammed me. - Mark Sinclair knows nothing about construction.

Mark and his crew did quality work on the restucco of our house, as well as building us a new "good neighbor" fence. They were thorough in both their work and communication. The only issue I had was that there ended up being a lot of change orders, which led to budget bloat. The changes were well explained and professionally completed, so ended up not being a big issue.

A few months ago we had the exterior of our house painted., but I declined to get our metal gates painted at the time.  Now that the house is freshly painted the gates look rusty and old.  I called Westgate Renovators Inc. (same people who painted our house).  They provided me with a very reasonable estimate to paint the gates.  They came out, sanded and removed the rust from all the little curls in the gate and painted it.  The gates look awesome.  Just as before, the crew was professional, very knowledgeable and super friendly.  They arrived on time every morning, and at the end of the day when they left they cleaned up after themselves.I HIGHLY recommend Westgate Renovators for your next project.

Never again!  Very attentive until I signed their "contract", which was my first mistake. It was written in such general terms ... I really should have known better.That said, the communication breakdowns were frequent and frustrating. The price was such a horrible gouge that my insurance company was reluctant to pay and also had difficulty getting them to justify their costs. Not sure who was worse to deal with, the owner, Sinclair, or the office manager, Bardales. Both were rude and misleading and anything but transparent or helpful.  Also, I felt that they had a deal going with the engineer they hired. Couldn't quite put my finger on it, but something wasn't quite right there.   In the end, I wound up withholding final payment until all the details were done and my needs met, even though they were hounding me for their money, which of course they got.  Too bad there isn't a zero star category.
